think badly of you, and turn the smallest uncertainty into something that feels impossible to ignore.

And the hardest part? You can believe every bit of it, even when none of it is actually true.

We often react to situations based on what we think they mean, rather than what we genuinely know. We fill in the gaps, make assumptions, replay conversations, imagine the worst possible outcomes and end up carrying emotional weight that may never have been ours to carry.

A delayed reply doesn't automatically mean someone is losing interest. Someone's silence doesn't always mean something is wrong. A difficult moment doesn't mean everything is falling apart.

Sometimes, you need to step back, take a breath and remind yourself that there is a difference between what happened, what you think happened and what you're afraid might happen.

Don't let your thoughts become the judge, jury and truth of every situation.

Give yourself permission to see things differently. You might just discover that the reality is far kinder than the story your mind has been telling you.

Not every thought deserves your belief, not every feeling needs a reaction, and not every situation is as bad as your mind makes it seem.

Day 5: How My Recovery Helps Me Help Others

I am able to come from a place of understanding. It is hard to explain to someone who has never been through the same thing why you are feeling what you are feeling. I am able to relate and understand things on a different level. I want to be able to share my experience to help lead those struggling out of their darkness. I want to help people reach their potential and to find their light. I want to help those see that there are things worth living for and that they have a purpose.
