TURNING TRAGEDY INTO TRIUMPH DURING COVID-19
Just months away from her retirement, Fran Sumblin received devastating news. She had worked graveyard shifts for over thirty three years at a company called Porex Filtration Group. While working overnights she managed to raise two children as a single parent and is known for always putting others before herself. During the height of the pandemic (no visitors!) in March 2020, doctors discovered that she had a cancerous brain tumor. She was immediately transported from Chippenham Hospital to Johnston Willis for brain surgery (craniotomy). Radiation & chemotherapy were scheduled within days following this intensive surgery. The 6-week treatment required her daughter, Dana Coppola to take time off work to drive Fran to daily treatment. Dana also nominated her mom so that Kid Care Limo could provide a special ride to her last radiation appointment along with her family. What a relief to finally be able to put this scary time behind her!!! Fran was surprised to get a VIP ride and overjoyed to be surrounded by her doctors, friends and family as she celebrated her last successful treatment! She wanted to send out a special thank you to the Johnston Willis staff for providing excellent treatment and care. Many heartfelt thanks also go to her Radiation Oncologist Dr. David Randolph II and Medical Oncologist Dr. Attique Samdani at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center. Kid Care Limo would like to thank our outstanding Mission Accomplishment team, Shannon and Melly for making this ride happen. We are most grateful to Dana and all those who have nominated riders in need, and we invite you to contact us to arrange a free personalized experience for those needing a ride to treatment.
