Children and the Arts Festival

Children and the Arts Festival Children and the Arts is a non-profit organization dedicated to offering a FREE arts festival to celebrate art for, by, and with the children of our community.

The festival is always the third Saturday in May! An annual free festival celebrating art by, for and with children. This event is provided due to the generosity of donors and community members. Thank you! Donations can be sent year-round in support of the Children and the Arts Festival at PO Box 771, Peterborough, NH 03458.

Why should you support Children and the Arts during NH Gives?
For our Lantern Festival this year more than 300 jars of light were put out on the hill for the starry backdrop to our Lantern Installation! We had 25 volunteers who put in 72 volunteer hours just during our installation weekend - all to create a free and totally magical experience for our community!

Why should you support Children and the Arts during NH Gives?
Here are some numbers:
2200 - the number of programs we print and distribute to all ConVal district elementary school students, as well as preschools, daycares, and private schools located in district towns.
25 - the number of art displays in windows, downtown, and in the Peterborough Town Library, representing kids from preschool through ConVal high school.
3 - groups of high school students who supporting Children and the Arts during the ConVal day of service painting murals, the Library windows, and collecting items to make fairy houses on Festival Day!

Why should you support Children and the Arts during NH Gives?
We held 7 free community lantern workshops offering materials and expertise for community members to create their own lanterns to carry participate in the parade.
17 volunteers created 35 butterfly and flower lanterns for this year's installation, spending over 162 hours to create an lanterns for an amazing experience for our community.

10% - The part of our annual budget spent on storage space and insurance.
40% - The part of our annual budget made up of in-kind donations of performance venues, support from town/local organizations, and volunteer help.
$30,000 - We fundraise more than this amount every year to keep all of our events and projects free to participants!

Why should you support Children and the Arts during NH Gives?
For our Lantern Festival this year 608 lanterns were made with Kindergarten - 4th grade classes throughout the ConVal School district, all with volunteers (including prep!) That's more than 50 hours of volunteer time over 14 different school visits!

75+ - the number of volunteers who signed up and donated their time on Festival Day!
20 - the number of different groups and nonprofit organizations that helped to keep Putnam hopping all day with free activities for kids.
14 - during the height of Festival Day, this was the number of volunteer face-painters helping at Hands-On ALL AT ONCE!

Why should you support Children and the Arts during NH Gives?
Here are some numbers:
19 - Our Festival Committee is made up of 19 volunteers, including 2 high school interns.
360 - The number of hours over the course of 9 months our committee meets to plan the festival, we start planning in September!
0 - The number of paid staff who help with the festival, but we do pay for professional artists to perform, technicians for sound, and tent set up!
