Petaluma Valley Rotary

Petaluma Valley Rotary Rotarians contribute time, energy, and money to help those who are most in need in the world.

Rotary meets weekly, is non-political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. The Rotary flag now flies in more countries than that of the United Nations.

Congratulations to John Moller for all that you have taken on and done this year. You certainly deserve the Rotarian of the year award that was presented to you yesterday at our last club meeting of the year.

It was so nice that your sponsor and mentor could attend the meeting as well since she has moved away and is quite a trip to come here. Thanks for attending our meeting and sponsoring such a great Rotarian into our club, Bonnie Cordoza!!

What is a Companion Club? It is a club that is part of a regular Rotary Club, but that has a slightly different, more service-project focused agenda, a different set of projects, a lower dues schedule, and a lot fewer meetings. We are sponsoring a Petaluma Valley Rotary Companion Club, and want you to help us launch it.

Are you interested? Come to our informational meeting on Tuesday July 14, at Cafe Bellini, at 6:30 pm to learn more.

Our speaker for June 10, 2026 will be Daryl Young, on the subject “How Students Can Speak To An Astronaut”

Did you know there is an exciting opportunity out there for local school children to ask questions of an astronaut on the International Space Station (ISS) in real time? They can have a personal connection with the astronauts! This program is a consortium between local amateur radio organizations and multiple space agencies, including NASA. It’s called ARISS (Amateur Radio International Space Station). You can find the official information here:

https://www.ariss.org/

https://ariss-usa.org/proposal-overview/

Daryl Young (Cheri Page’s brother) is an amateur radio operator and past president of his local club. He has been the technical lead on many ISS connections for schools near him in Georgia and he has mentored schools for ARISS around the world. He could be our technical mentor in this process and could also help us find a local radio club. Let’s discover how Rotary can assist in bringing this program to our local students.

REMEMBER! (because this IS the last regular meeting of the month)
* BRING IN YOUR PLASTICS!
* BRING IN YOUR TP, PAPERTOWEL, AND WRAPPING PAPER "INNER-TUBES"!

The current issue of the Rotary magazine features the winners of the annual photography competition. One of the winners, Mark Campbell, is from the Santa Rosa club, and this is his photo. So beautiful!

Do you read the Rotary magazine or does it just sit on your pile of things to do and you never quite get around to it? This is an issue to read for sure.
