Building Community through Boating

The MISSION: The Petaluma Small Craft Center leads the community in bringing people and boats together on the Petaluma River. PSCC is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization committed to river access for all in people-powered small boats. We do this through on-the-water programs like Day on The River and multiple summer camps, and through the development of two facilities: The Floathouse rental center and a community boathouse. The Floathouse is the only shovel-ready waterfront project in Petaluma, and our capital campaign, Launching a River Legacy, will help us open in the summer of 2019.

VISION: Petaluma is a river town. From its southern tidal marshes to the city’s urban waterfront, the river that gave our city life is also one of our community’s most important public open spaces: a linear park at its very heart. Our two facilities will be part of the city’s program Petaluma Water Ways, a vibrant water trail linking together a network of green spaces and gathering spots, small boat landings, and cultural and recreational landmarks along the waterfront.

GOALS: Our main goal is to provide river access for all. To achieve that, we are committed to building two facilities in Petaluma, California: The Floathouse, a dock-based small craft rental center in the turning basin; and a community boathouse that all the local boating clubs can call home. The latter will serve as a center for boating skills, water safety, and environmental education. PSCC supports those who use the river for recreation, nature appreciation, and fitness.
