Opening Night Vibes at Collaborative Works 2026!
What a wonderful evening at Usher Gallery. Thank you to our family, friends, collectors, and community for showing up and making the Opening Reception such a smashing celebration. The room was full of energy, conversation, and connection around the work.
A huge thank you to the fantastic Usher Gallery team—what a party you put on! We are so grateful for your support and partnership in bringing this collaborative exhibition to life.

Installation Day magic for Collaborative Works 2026 at Usher Gallery.
From blank gallery walls to a fully realized visual story—this reel captures the energy behind the scenes as artist duo Barbara Libby-Steinmann and Anna Rochester bring the exhibition to life. Ironing large-scale tapestry paintings and silk shibori panels, mapping the flow of the space, measuring, adjusting, and placing every piece with intention and professional care. It’s physical, detailed, and deeply collaborative work—where vision meets craftsmanship.

Here’s a highlight of two new works heading into Collaborative Works 2026 at Usher Gallery.
These pieces emerged from our ongoing exploration of birds as messengers of place—quiet observers moving through layered landscapes of memory, texture, and mark-making. Working side-by-side, we allow drawing, paint, and natural materials to respond to one another in real time, building surfaces that feel both grounded and fluid.
There’s something intimate about these smaller works—the subtle gestures, the delicate line, the way the birds seem to pause mid-moment. They invite you closer.

Show prep continues in the studio—and yes, women and their pink power tools are getting it done.
Behind every finished painting is a long, hands-on process. From the first marks to the final details, each piece moves through many stages before it’s ready to hang and be experienced on the wall. Today’s focus: drilling precise holes for D-ring hardware and installing hanging wire, the final step that transforms a painting into an exhibition-ready work.
These behind-the-scenes moments are an essential part of preparing for Collaborative Works 2026 at Usher Gallery—where every detail, from concept to installation, reflects care, craftsmanship, and collaboration.
