Meet Cash!

Cash is a handsome 6-year-old, 16hh Thoroughbred (Racing Name: Andy Can You Hear Me) who is ready to begin his next chapter! After a successful racing career, Cash arrived at SERRA quite high-strung. We gave him six months to relax and simply enjoy being a horse, and the transformation has been wonderful to watch. He has now been in training for about a month and is doing fabulously!

Cash is much more settled, loves attention, and has become a very sweet and affectionate boy. He stands beautifully for grooming, bathing, and farrier work and is picking up new ground-work skills quickly. We have also recently started him under saddle, and he is doing very well!

Cash is looking for an experienced rider who will give him the time, patience, and continued training he needs to reach his full potential. We think this handsome boy has a lot to offer—and we can't wait to see where his journey takes him!

For some of SERRA’s most vulnerable horses, a full feed bucket is about much more than a meal.

Several of our senior horses can no longer chew and digest enough hay because of age and dental challenges. They rely on soft senior grain mashes every day to help maintain their weight and health. Other horses in our care are recovering from neglect, injury, or malnutrition and need specialized nutrition to safely rebuild strength.

Right now, we’re raising $5,000 for specialized grain and feed to help meet those needs.

Every contribution helps us keep these buckets full and gives our horses the nutrition they need to heal, recover, and thrive.

Meet Diego!
Diego is a beautiful 15-18 year-old Appendix standing approximately 16hh. He is an exceptionally gentle horse with wonderful ground manners and a kind, willing personality.

One of Diego’s special talents appears to be liberty work. He truly enjoys it, and our liberty trainer absolutely loves working with him. Diego is attentive, engaged, and seems to have a natural affinity for this type of partnership. If you are looking for a horse to explore and develop a connection through liberty, Diego could be an amazing partner.

Diego also appears to have had training in the past. He lunges beautifully and seems to understand what is being asked of him. We have introduced him to a ba****ck saddle, which he accepted comfortably. At this point, however, Diego has not welcomed a rider on his back. Because we wanted to rule out any pain issues, we had his back X-rayed and nothing was apparent. It is possible that Diego may have had an unpleasant experience with riding sometime in his past, although we do not know his history.

For now, we believe Diego will thrive with someone patient and experienced who is willing to continue building his trust and confidence—or with someone interested in developing his considerable potential as a liberty partner. Diego is a gentle, beautiful horse with so much to offer, and we are excited to find the right person who will appreciate him for who he is and help him continue to flourish.

🐴 SERRA at the Sonoma County Horse Council BBQ & Polo Event!

What a wonderful day at the Sonoma Horse Council BBQ & Polo event! SERRA was thrilled to be part of this fun gathering celebrating horses and the amazing equestrian community we’re so fortunate to be a part of. We had a great time meeting so many new people, sharing the SERRA story, and talking about the horses we work so hard to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome. And, of course, Lelani was a huge hit! 💕 She charmed everyone she met and was a wonderful ambassador for SERRA.

A big thank you to the Sonoma county Horse Council for including us and for putting together such a great event. We love opportunities like this to connect with our community, introduce people to SERRA, and spread the word about the work we do. Also a special thank you to Teresa, Jill, Mark, Catherine, Deb and Tanner for helping to set up, take down and managing the SERRA table.

Meet Bailey & Indio 💕

Bailey is a 29-year-old Paint mare who arrived at SERRA significantly underweight. With careful refeeding protocols provided by our veterinarian and lots of TLC, she has been able to regain her health and is doing beautifully.

Indio is a 22-year-old Paso Fino gelding. He can be a little shy at first, but once he gets to know you, his incredibly kind nature shines through. He keeps a watchful eye on his lifelong companion, Bailey—and he has even been known to “share” his supplements with her!

Both Bailey and Indio are very kind, gentle, and easy to handle. Most importantly, they have a wonderful bond, and we would love to see them continue their journey together.

❤️ We’re hoping to find a loving home where these two special horses can stay together.

He wasn't lost. He just wanted to be found.

Jax, our resident barn cat, has claimed the Lost & Found bin for summertime naps, and honestly, who could blame him? Thanks for the purrs, buddy.

Please help us welcome our newest SERRA residents! 🐴❤️

We've been busy recently with three new arrivals, and we're excited to introduce them.

Bailey & Indio arrived earlier this week after their owner was no longer able to care for them. This sweet pair has clearly looked after one another for many years. Bailey is a 29-year-old Paint mare. She arrived significantly underweight, so our first priority is helping her regain her health through our careful refeeding protocols provided by our veterinarian. Indio is a 22-year old Paso Fino gelding. He’s a little shy at first but is incredibly kind and keeps a watchful eye on his lifelong companion Bailey. Indio has even been known to "share" his supplements with Bailey.😊

They're still settling in, and we're taking the time to assess their personalities and needs so we can eventually find the home that's the best fit for each of them. If possible, we'd love to see Bailey and Indio continue their journey together in their next home. We'll keep you posted on their progress!

We'd also like you to meet Diego, who joined SERRA a couple of weeks ago. Diego is a 15-year-old Appendix gelding, standing about 16 hands. Diego also came in moderately underweight and are following the same guidelines provided by our veterinarian and he is already looking so much better. While we don't know much about his background yet, he's proven to be easy to handle on the ground and appears to have had some previous training. Our next step will be to introduce him to a saddle and learn more about his riding experience.

We're excited to share some wonderful news from SERRA!

In the past month, two of our deserving horses have found their forever homes. ❤️

Tiny (who isn't so tiny!) has been adopted to join an equine therapy program, where his calm personality and gentle disposition make him the perfect partner. He'll be helping people on a part-time basis while also enjoying plenty of love and attention from his new owner. We couldn't imagine a better fit for this special boy.

Anchor has also found his forever home with a wonderful woman who is already having a great time riding him—sometimes ba****ck, sometimes with a saddle. Although Anchor wasn't with us for very long, we're thrilled he found such a loving match.

Seeing horses begin their next chapter is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. Congratulations to Tiny, Anchor, and their new families! Wishing them many happy years together. ❤️🐴
