🚤 CRUISE-IN PSA: OCTOBER 9–11

And here comes another one!

The Petaluma Yacht Club will welcome 10 boats from the Sea Ray Boat Club of Northern California to the Turning Basin October 9–11.

We’ve been hearing something wonderful from the people who cruise into Petaluma: they really enjoy being here. The welcome from the Yacht Club, the friendliness of people downtown, and the unusual experience of arriving right in the heart of our river town are making an impression.

So let’s show this group some Petaluma hospitality, too. If you’re downtown, come see the Sea Rays in the basin, enjoy the sight and give our visitors a wave.

And if you’re out paddling, rowing, pedaling or boating that weekend, expect some extra activity around the Turning Basin. Keep a good lookout, give larger boats room to maneuver, and share the river safely.

Ten visiting boats, one beautiful river, and another reason to spend a little time by the water.

⛵ CRUISE-IN PSA: OCTOBER 2–5

Apparently, word is getting out: Petaluma is a great place to arrive by boat. (Just like in the olden days!!)

This weekend, the Petaluma Yacht Club is welcoming three boats from Half Moon Bay Yacht Club to the Turning Basin.

One of the things we love hearing is how much visiting boaters enjoy the welcome they receive—not just from the Yacht Club, but from people throughout our community. So if you’re downtown this weekend, take a look at the visiting boats and give their crews a friendly Petaluma wave.

And if you’re out on the river, remember that the Turning Basin may be a little busier than usual. Keep a good lookout, give larger vessels room to maneuver, and share the water safely.

Enjoy the boats, enjoy the river, and help us give our visitors a warm Petaluma welcome.

Our last Free Community Yoga on the Dock of the year is Friday, October 2—and we’re very happy to welcome Brieyen Parracino of Coriander Energy Healing as our sponsor for this final session. 🌿

Brieyen is a Reiki practitioner, NAHA-certified aromatherapist, registered nurse, and longtime oncology nurse who believes deeply in caring for the whole person. Her work brings together her experience in Western medicine with Reiki, aromatherapy, and other holistic practices.

She’ll be joining us on the dock for the class and bringing along some aromatherapy products and samples to share.

And for our final practice of the season, Miki Romo will lead us through an hour of movement, breathing, and time together beside the river.

Community Yoga on the Dock has been free all season because local people and businesses have stepped forward to sponsor these gatherings. We’re so grateful to Brieyen and Coriander Energy Healing for helping us close out the season this way.

Friday, October 2 | 6–7 pm

The class is free, but registration is required. Find the registration link on our Events page.

Come join us for one last hour on the dock. 💛

60, 90, or 120?

How much time do you want to spend by the river next weekend?

An hour to stretch out on the dock. Two hours to see Petaluma from water level. Two hours to learn something new. Or two hours to meet a Madam and hear some very local stories.

Every minute on the river is yours.

Swipe through for four ways to spend it:

🧘 Friday, 10/2: Free Community Yoga on the Dock
🌊 Saturday, 10/3: Turn to The River — A River Town in Transition
🏄 Sunday, 10/4: Learn to Paddleboard
🎭 Sunday, 10/4: Petaluma River History Paddle

Different experiences. Different ways to be outside. Same river.

Pick your minutes and come spend them with us.

⛵ CRUISE-IN PSA: SEPTEMBER 25–28

Seven visiting boats from Cruiser Haven Yacht Club & one from Ocean Cruising Club will be cruising into the Petaluma Turning Basin September 25–28!

If you’re downtown, enjoy the sight of the visiting fleet and give our guests a warm Petaluma welcome. And if you’re out on the river, remember that the Turning Basin and waterway may be a little busier than usual.

Keep a good lookout, give larger and docked vessels plenty of room, and share the water safely.

Have fun, enjoy the view, and be safe on the water!

Some of you are already booking boats. Some of you are emailing us with questions.

And some of you are clearly already thinking about THE COSTUME. ✨🧙‍♀️

So consider this your reminder: Witches & Wizards on The Water returns to the Petaluma River on October 24, from 11 am–2 pm, with our on-the-water Costume Contest from 12–1 pm.

There will be prizes—and we encourage you to have fun with it. Our judges can even be persuaded to create a new category when someone arrives with an idea that simply cannot go unrewarded.

So yes, plan ahead. And don’t forget that your boat can be part of the costume. Kayaks, paddleboards, pedal kayaks, water bikes, canoes and other Floathouse “brooms” offer a lot of creative possibilities.

Come as Glinda. Come as a sea monster. Build a floating cauldron. Coordinate the whole family. Surprise us.

The event and costume contest are free, and bringing your own boat is free, too. If you’d like to use one of ours, rentals are available throughout the day—and we’re already getting bookings, so reserving ahead is a very good idea.

🎃 THE MAGIC DOESN’T PACK ITSELF.

Witches & Wizards on the Water returns Saturday, October 24—and we need volunteers to help us make one of the most delightfully spooky days of the year happen.

This is the day our river fills with witches, wizards, costumes, boats and boards, and trick-or-treaters following our paddle trail with these cotton bags in hand.

And behind all that magic? Community.

If you’d like to be part of the crew that helps bring Witches & Wizards on the Water to life, sign up for a volunteer spot here:

You may notice several LASTs on this calendar.

Don’t worry: The Floathouse is open year-round for rentals, tidal paddles, lunar adventures and plenty more. But some of our favorite gatherings belong to a particular season — and a few of them are about to take their final bow for 2026.

So perhaps this is the week to align, alight & find the light.

Thursday, September 24 | 5:30–6:30 pm
🌅 Last Thursday Paddle & Party
Bring your own boat or rent one of our kayaks or paddleboards and head out for an evening paddle as the sun drops lower. Then come back to the dock for snacks, conversation and the company of people who understand that paddling on a Thursday night is an entirely reasonable life choice.

Sunday, September 27 | 9:30–11:00 am
✨ Fall Solstice Paddleboard Yoga + Sound Bath
Our ultimate slow-down-and-notice-the-season experience: paddleboard yoga, water, sky and a sound bath, all woven together into 90 minutes of deep relaxation and reconnection.

Friday, October 2 | 6:00–7:00 pm
🧘 Last Free Community Yoga on The Dock of the season
This final class is sponsored by Reiki practitioner Brieyen Parracino of Coriander Energy Healing — a particularly fitting community partner as we move into a season of transition, reflection and rebalancing.

Saturday, October 3 | 10:00 am–12:00 pm
🚣 Turn to The River
See Petaluma from water level on our guided past-present-future river tour. We look at the river that shaped this town, the waterfront we have now, and the ways our relationship with the river continues to change.

Sunday, October 4 | 10:00 am–12:00 pm
🎭 Last Petaluma River History Paddle of the season
This one is unlike anything else we do: part guided paddle, part history lesson and part live local theater, with costumed actors appearing along the shore as the river’s stories unfold around you.

The river doesn’t close for fall. Neither do we.

But seasons change, programs change, the light changes — and sometimes the best response is simply to show up and notice.

Take a look at our September 24–October 4 calendar and join us for whatever calls to you. Registration and details are on our Events page.
