The Mercury Stray Cats Classic Cougar Automobile Club is a not for profit group of individuals founded in March, 1993. The Stray Cats are made up of classic 1967-1973 Cougar automobile owners, admirers, and those who wish to own a classic Cougar. Our members typically hail from throughout the I-80 corridor in Northern California, from San Francisco to Sacramento to Reno, Nevada and beyond. The Cen

tral California chapter expands down through Ventura County. We have members from around the country, as well as international members from as far away as New Zealand.

I bought my 1967 Cougar in 1993, but the story goes much earlier. Growing up in the '80s my two older brothers were always cruising around in their late 1960s cars. I remember the heavy steel and the shiny Chrome. Between my brothers they had 1967, 1969, 1970 cougars. These were the cars they drove in high school. While I myself was a 12-year-old kid. After High School I started hunting for my own classic car. Finally found one in an old weekly Trader magazine in a small black and white photo. It was a simple add, 1967 Cougar, San Jose $2,000. I still remember the little old lady who answered the door chain smoking. Drove the car back to Santa Rosa and have been in love with it ever since.
