We fundraise, raise awareness about key issues, and deliver hope to families that have gone through extraordinary hardship. In 2006, this group was started with the intention to gather fun women together and help causes that touch our hearts. What started off with just a few girlfriends has grown into a dynamic force that has made a positive impact on our entire community. Although we kept the na
me, "The Fabulous Women," this group have grown, and it is very inclusive. It is a grassroots group that includes every sector of the community, men, women, business owners, stay at home moms, public officials, nonprofit leaders, school teachers, senior groups, and youth organizations like the Girls Scout and Cub Scouts. * Yes, this is a group that is open and welcoming to everyone:)
We have evolved into a nonprofit that focuses on charity and the improvement of our community. We have raised thousands of dollars for worthy causes. Our group has helped families who have dealt with serious health problems and tragic situations. We will often rally the community around compassionate stories that inspire hope, humanity, and gratitude. We have supported many local organizations like: COTS, PEP Housing, The Petaluma Art Center, Cinnabar Theatre, The Boys and Girls Club, Petaluma People Service Center, Hope Counseling, and Mentor Me. We have addressed some of the silent diseases that have affected friends in our group like Cancer, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, Paralysis, Heart Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. We have tackled some of the toughest subjects that test our compassion.......domestic violence, distracted driving, bullying, and care-giving for the elderly. It is very important to our group to educate our families and learn important life lessons that will keep us safe and happy. We have championed the cause to help build a school in Rwanda. Our gatherings are very social. The first hour is just for chatting, sharing appetizers and beverages, and connecting with new people. We then give our charitable cause a spotlight by sharing the story behind our gathering. This gives everyone a chance to listen, learn, and connect to the cause before us. There is no pressure on contributions. Guests are empowered to donate whatever they want to give. We have learned that there is strength in numbers and we have witnessed everyday people pull together to do generous and extraordinary things in the name of love. There is no fee to join our group. Come when you can and jump in and help whenever possible. Many of us are parents, so we are very committed to modeling service and love to the next generation. We hope you will join us. On a final note, we have an annual tradition during December called, "The Festival of Trees." It is a wonderful way to bring joy and holiday giving to our community.
