Petaluma Water Ways is a vision for recreation, health, and the environment based on Petaluma’s 1996 River Access and Enhancement Plan. It includes 7.5 miles of waterfront trails connecting to regional trail systems, multiple launch spots for human-powered watercraft, a community boathouse, small craft rental center, river overlooks, and other features. It links together existing landmarks along the city’s waterfront such as the Turning Basin Trestle, David Yearsley River Heritage Center, Marina, Shollenberger Park, and Ellis Creek Marsh.
