A wonderful day on Drake's Estero with the Petaluma Paddlers! An encounter with a family of five river otters eating 2' long monkeyfaced pricklebacks was the highlight of the day for me!

Started out in fog, but returned in bright sun. The water was not quite high enough to allow us to return from Limantour to Home Bay along the cliffs, so we had to return to the west side of Drake’s and paddle north before we could cross over to Home Bay. We were delighted to find a family of five...

I’ve been sorting through old photos recently. I started in on slides tonight. I dug out my old Kodak carousel and put up my big projection screen. Unfortunately, although the carousel illuminates, it will not advance slides either in a carousel or a stack loader. I can however, put in individual slides, which is what I did to see this photo. I then took a photo of it with my iPhone - and here it is!
This is Linnea at Glacier Point taking a dance pose in her hiking shoes!

An album - tap to open and tap to advance images. Hollie called the perfect day - at least five days in advance! The conditions just seemed to get better as the week progressed - calmer and warmer.
I always love poking into the tiny canyon bays - and threading my way through the drowned trees. And the acorn woodpecker granaries are fun to see.
"8 paddlers had a lovely day on Lake Sonoma. Water level is still quite high, so search for the mouth of Dry Creek was aborted after about 2hrs of paddling , though tenacious Ted paddled on and later reported we just missed it by about 10 more minutes. It was hard to find places to pull out for lunch with the water level so high, but we managed. Creatures: One bald eagle, and the usual suspects of cormorants, ducks, mergansers, and a cluster of small white birds that looked like terns, but flew up as we approached so not sure. Three of us stayed and had a delicious swim post paddle; water temp was perfect; you give out that little yelp when you leap in, and then you don't want to leave." - Hollie
