Asking for help builds community.
Last week in our new mama and baby circle this was a huge theme. It is SO hard to ask for help. Sometimes, it’s hard to even accept help when it’s being offered. Because we are “supposed” to be super moms. We are supposed to have it all figured out and do it all ourselves, or at least that’s what we are being told culturally. If we can’t, we see ourselves as failing.
But the thing is, we are ALL struggling to do it all. Doing it all is an impossible task that no one is capable of. And it’s also a LONELY route. Wouldn’t you rather have people to lean on? To be in it together. It’s vulnerable to be the one to reach out and ask for help, but often, it gives the helper a chance to show how much they care. And especially in this early phase of parenting, people WANT to help, they just don’t always know how.
Anyways, each mama chose one thing she wanted to reach out and ask for help with this week. I’m excited to hear about everyone’s week and see how asking for help went for everyone!
