We did a pop up event at Avenue Yarns today, to showcase our farm yarn during the Bay Area Yarn Crawl. Stop by the store to squish our farm yarn! All merch sold helps us fund social recreation programs for adults with autism and also goes toward our barn raising campaign.

The farm hosted another no-stress art group where everyone got together to make collages. It was for both the participants and caregivers/parents to connect and do art. Shout out to the wonderful Sonoma State University pre-OT students who volunteered. They encouraged participation and facilitated engagement.

We started a community grazing cooperative with our neighbors! Much thanks to the Carlsons for putting up fencing so we could do this. The sheep and llama were thrilled to explore the new pasture. Thank you and for inspiring us to form this cooperative.

Students and Teachers Restoring A Watershed (STRAW) of Point Blue Conservation Sceince led another planting day at our farm with students from John Reed elementary school in Rohnert Park! Our farm is beside ourselves with gratitude to have this partnership with STRAW and the students. Funding for this project is thanks to Fibershed’s Healthy Soils Program in partnership with CDFA, and Point Blue’s Roots Program. It’s amazing how much team work can accomplish!

New pasture for the sheep. They were practically sprinting once the gate opened! We practice rotational grazing for enhanced climate resilience. It improves soil health and forage quality, prevents over grazing and encourages deeper plant root systems that increases the land’s ability to absorb and retain water for drought resilience.

We were amazed to see the fiber from our Shetland sheep Lulu, GreenEggs and Ham turned into a beautiful knitted cardigan! The yarn’s brown color is from the combination of the sheep’s natural colors of black, grey and brown tones. They were from our original flock of 6 sheep that started Mustang Acres farm. Our farm follows producer guidelines to produce Climate Beneficial yarn that is 100% sheep wool. Every skein of yarn can be traced back to the sheep that produced them. Our farm yarn is available in store or online at in Albany, CA. They may be out of this Shetland yarn, but our Romney natural cream yarn and Corridale medium brown yarn are available. When you purchase our farm yarn, you support the farm and the community of neurodiverse individuals that help maintain the farm.

The sheep were so excited to graze on new pasture! We used solar electric portable fencing to section off the field. Once the gate to the new pasture was opened, they came running! 🐑

Sheep feeding time! And soon the sheep will be back to grazing only.
