We caught our very own Ms. Emily Branch, Principal at Petal Primary School, doing exactly that — taking story time OUTSIDE and reading with children right in the park! 🌞📚

Because reading doesn’t have to happen at a desk or before bedtime. It can happen anywhere, anytime, with anyone — and every single minute counts.

Petal Excel By 5 is kicking off a new campaign to encourage Mississippians to read 20 minutes a day!

Reading just 20 minutes a day can make such a big difference in a child’s learning, imagination, and love for books.

We are challenging our educator friends, parents, grandparents, and community members to record a short video sharing why you love to read or why reading is important to you.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made for the freedoms we enjoy each day. May we teach our children the importance of gratitude, respect, and remembrance for those who served and never came home.
