The Sonshine Girls held their last meeting of the school year last Sunday. We honored our seniors and gave them a small gift to remind them not to conform to the world around them as they start their journey in college. They were also reminded to transform the world around them for Jesus. The girls also made a happy for their mothers for Mother’s Day.

Today is one of those special days every year that I get to represent my sweet Addison at the Petal Education Foundation Scholarship Brunch. This year’s recipients of the Addison Morgan “Shine Your Light” scholarship are Miriam Mixon and Kade Watts. I have known Miriam since she was born. She and Addison were friends, and Miriam is very special to me. I just met Kade today but can already tell that he is going to represent Addison in the way that shines like she did. Both Miriam and Kade are excellent choices and will no doubt shine bright for Jesus as they enter the next chapter of their lives.

Sonshine Bags are a part of the ministry of Addison’s Light. They have been given to female teenagers and adults who may be going through something and need extra encouragement or just a smile. The Sonshine Girls brought items to fill these bags to our last meeting. We were able to make 30 bags. If you know of someone that may need a bag, please email [email protected].

Sonshine Girls met on Sunday for our April meeting. Kaylee Brown shared the importance of sharing Jesus with people even if is hard and scary to do. For our ministry project, the girls were reminded how we are told by God to take care of widows and orphans. The girls made bookmarks/magnets/cards for the widows in their lives to show them love and encouragement. We also collected items for the Sonshine Bags that Addison’s Light gives out.

The Sonshine Girls had their February meeting on Sunday afternoon. Isabella Poole shared the devotion and reminded us that only God can truly satisfy. The girls made Valentines cards to give out and took part in a Favorite Things activity.

Sonshine Girls had their January meeting yesterday. Kara Pollitz shared a very honest devotional about dealing with anxiety in her own life. The girls were encouraged to take this new year to evaluate their relationship with God and to begin some beneficial habits like writing Scripture in a journal and meditating on it. They designed their journal covers as the activity at the meeting. As a way to celebrate Addison’s birthday, the girls also brought supplies for birthday boxes.
