Peru Fire Cheif Robert Daine shared with the club the history of the Peru Fire Department. In 1843 volunteers started fighting fires from the location at Main and Miami with horse and wagon. 1920 31 staff were paid $100 per month. 1926 the Washington Street location was established. With upgrade of trucks they moved to the Washington Street trustees building (swap locations). 2022 this station was moved to Broadway. With growth and need or more trucks the main station moved to Canal. This location is staffed 7-8 people each shift.

Guest speakers today Joannah Wildermuth and Hannah Early from North Miami FFA Dairy Team. The team is preparing for their well deserved trip to Scotland, Ireland and England. They competed in a National Judging competition to earn this trip. Calie France and Riley Kling will also be attending. They could still use some financial support to pay for the trip.

What is Rotary and how do they help our community?

Rotary is a group of professionals the meeting for lunch on Tuesdays at noon at Riverview Event Center. You are welcome to come join us and check it out. We have a guest speaker each week.

How we help. We have various events through the year.
* Big Cup Golf Outing⛳️ (July) proceeds from this event fund our Shoes That Fit program that help provide shoes the Miami County students in need. This year we have provided 175 pair of shoes.
*Cole Porter Classic👟 (October) proceeds from this event go to the Nickle Plate Trail. Members of the club volunteer time to work the event.
*Trivia (Sept or Oct) club raises funds to assist with international needs or Peru Rotary Music Park
*Salvation Army Bell Ringing 🔔(December) helping another group in need.
*Rotary Spellathon (March) fun event ran by the club to raise funds for two $2000 scholarships for Miami County Seniors as well as a $1000 to Ivy Tech to assist an adult that has returned back to school.

We are looking for members. Come be a part of this great club and help the community.
