Our PTA is made up of parents, family members, and volunteers who give their time to help make Peru Schools an even better place for our students.

Each week, we’ll share a little about one of our board members so you can get to know the people behind the scenes! 👋

Meet Michelle - Treasurer!

📚 About Me: Mom of 3 kiddos plus our furbaby Capri, married to Nick for almost 15 years, and I work full time, which means life is basically a never-ending rotation of work, school, activities, and getting everyone where they’re supposed to be!

🏫 My Connection to Northview & Parkside: 9 years - 8th, 6th, and 3rd grade

❤️ Why I Joined the PTA: I started for the field trip chaperoning and stayed because I wanted to help make a difference for our students and families!

🎉 My Favorite PTA Event: Bingo Night

✨ Something You Might Not Know About Me: We love traveling as a family and making memories together!

🎯 What I’m Looking Forward to This Year: Making this a fun and memorable year for our students and helping create some great experiences for our families!

🌟 Meet the PTA Board Monday! 🌟

Today, we’re excited to introduce you to our PTA President, Donna Aleksy! ❤️🖤🤍

Hi, my name is Donna Aleksy! My husband, Don, and I came to Peru in 1996 as Tupperware franchise owners and have called Peru home ever since. We were blessed with two children and four grandchildren! 💕 Three of our four grandchildren live in Peru and attend Peru schools: Logan, 15; Eloise, 11; and Rocco, 8. Our fourth grandchild, Sophia, 11, lives in Portland, Oregon.

I’m also a substitute teacher at both Northview and Parkside, which gives me an even greater appreciation for the amazing students and staff in our school community!

I attended my first PTA meeting in 2023 and was immediately impressed by how much the PTA does to support our students and staff. I knew I wanted to become part of this philanthropic group! I’m honored to currently serve as President alongside six incredibly dedicated women who make up our PTA Executive Board. ❤️🖤🤍

When asked what my favorite PTA event is, my answer would have to be ALL of them! 😊 There’s something so special about being part of an organization that brings families together while providing ongoing financial support to our schools.

A fun fact about me: I was born and raised in New York City, moved to California, eventually landed in Minnesota, met my husband, and then moved to Illinois—where he was born and raised! 🗽➡️🌴➡️❄️➡️🌽

I’m looking forward to another wonderful year filled with new events, exciting opportunities, and educationally fun experiences for our students and staff!

A huge thank you to all of the families who came out and joined us for our 1st Back-to-School Family Picnic this past Thursday at Bakers Lake! 🧺☀️

We hope everyone had a wonderful time getting together, enjoying some food, and kicking off another great school year! A special thank you to Get Sauced Food Truck for serving up a delicious dinner for everyone! 🍕 🍝 🥪 🍖

We hope parents and kids had the opportunity to meet new friends, mingle with other families, and maybe even exchange phone numbers for future playdates! 🥰

We are so grateful for our wonderful families and the community we are building together. Thank you for making our first picnic such a fun and memorable evening! ❤️🖤🤍

We can’t wait to see you all at our next family event! 🎉

Come out, enjoy some food, meet other families, exchange numbers, and maybe even set up some playdates! 💜

Just a reminder that we’ll be hosting our PTA Back-to-School Family Picnic today from 4:30–6:00 PM at the Bakers Lake Pavilion!

🍽️ Food will be available for purchase from Get Sauced Food Truck! They have something for everyone—from brisket and pulled pork to Italian favorites like pizza and lasagna, and even DESSERT NUGGETS! 🤤 Yum!

We know life gets CRAZY this time of year with fall sports, school, and all the activities that come with a new school year. But even if you can only stop by long enough to grab dinner, we’d love to see you!

Take one less thing off your to-do list tonight and let someone else make dinner! 😉
