Peru Cemetery Association

Peru Cemetery Association Welcome to the Peru Cemetery Association page. With this page we would like to connect with members, relay news and keep members informed.

You are a member if you have a family member or relative interred in our cemetery. If you are a member or think you maybe a member; we would like to get in touch with you, leave us a message. Along with establishing contact with members we want to establish plot ownership. We find members know a loved one is buried there, but don’t know much about the family plot, who or how many people are buried

here. We can assist as well as letting you know how many spots are available. We also have plots that have been sold, but no one has been buried there. So what are the family’s intentions with the plot? We may also be able to help with your family genealogy. With this page we can keep the membership informed about meetings, events and activities happening with the association. Every board member can read the messages; so get in touch with us if you think you maybe a member. Leave us a message and let us know which family plot you may be associated with. Help us spread the word about this page, repost, call, or call family members let them know.

Old Business
• Water line has been repaired by Darrell. Water has been turned on for the season.
• Available burial plots; Darrell needs to close status with the Finney and Lawrence families. Frank offered to stop by and talk to the Lawrence’s to get final disposition of open plots. Marian, will contact Jerry Finney so Darrell can walk the plots to establish the one family site and where the 4 veterans plots will be. Once that is done, Darrell will get with the local VA and discuss the availability of the plots. The VA is under new management and my not have been briefed on this.

New Business
• Now that we have plots to sell, we need to establish a selling price, plot size, additionally, Darrell has to get with the state on paperwork to start selling again. A boiler plate deed will have to be drawn up.
• Mowing; RGB will mow again this year. They are asking $650 per mow. Board asked Darrell the see if they will do if for $600 and mow every other week or as needed. Darrell asked his check limit be raised from $500 to $600 to cover the checks. Board approved.
• Several large trees blew over early winter. 3 along the west side (bank) and 1 on the south bank on the east end. 2 head stones were broken in the old section when they fell. Darrell will try to get the stone repair compound to fix them. Scott had some of the trees cut up and removed.
• Chris talked about hiring a person and paying an annual salary to mow, maintain the grounds and possible do the digging. Board thought it would be a good idea, but needs to find an individual that will be willing to do it. More discussion will be needed. She talked about mailings to ask plot owners to make a donation. Once we have enough names and address that would be possible. Chris will try to get in touch with people through our Facebook account. She mentioned that the other cemetery she works with askes the town to give an annual donation ($5000) to support operations. Darrell will go to the town board and discuss this, snow/plowing verse fence and see if a board member would like to be on our board.
• Frank has completed the leaning stones. Darrell will get the paper work to the NYS Division of Cemeteries and see if they can help fund the lean stones.
• Based on the research Darrell did on the Clinton County Historical Society walk, He believes there is enough facts and information to apply for a historical plaque for the cemetery.
Board Elections: Not held due to not having a quorum.

Open Discussion:

• Next meeting will be in Oct 2022, TBD.

Motion to adjourn by Chris Mullen seconded by Frank Woodward. Meeting adjourned 11 am.
