Brandon is in urgent need of a kidney donor.

He’s not just an incredible dad to two wonderful boys—he’s his family’s rock, a dedicated provider and the heart of their world. 💕

Brandon deserves the chance to keep being there for his family, to watch his boys grow, and to continue living a full and meaningful life.🪷

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a living donor, here are a few things that might ease your mind:
All testing and the procedure are covered 100% through Brandon’s insurance- there is no cost for you

Update:

Since our last post, Brandon has been through more than anyone should have to face. He’s survived multiple life-threatening health events, each one a miracle that reminds us how precious our time together really is. By the grace of God and his own fighting spirit, he is still here- still laughing, still loving, and still fighting. But the truth is, his kidney disease has continued to progress, and his need for a kidney is more urgent than ever.

It’s not too late. A living donor kidney could give him the chance to live a full, healthy life again without restriction- to travel, to be the best dad we know, to do the things he loves without constant pain, fatigue, and hospital visits.

I feel so blessed for the time spent with my family this summer. Not every day is easy—I often feel fatigued and spend many hours each night hooked up to a machine—but there’s still so much joy in my life. I’m especially thankful for dialysis because it allows me to be present for my boys and work full-time.

The reality is, the average wait time for a kidney from the deceased donor list is five years, and I don’t know when I’ll get that life-changing call. Nearly 60,000 people in the U.S. alone are waiting for kidneys- many will die before they get a transplant. That’s why I’m also looking for a living donor while I wait. Dialysis helps keep me alive, but a transplant would give me the freedom to create more memories with my family and live a longer, healthier, and more normal life.

Asking someone to consider donating a kidney is incredibly difficult and humbling, but it significantly increases my chances for a transplant—so here I am.

In addition to the shorter wait time, kidneys from living donors typically last longer and function better than deceased donor kidneys. If you’re not familiar with living donation, I wasn’t either until CKD entered my life. Some people are understandably concerned about the surgery and what life with one kidney might be like. Here’s some basic information about living donation:

• You only need one kidney to live a long, healthy life.
• Most donation surgeries are done laparoscopically, meaning through small incisions.
• The recovery period is relatively short, generally around two weeks.
• The costs of your evaluation and surgery would be fully covered by my insurance, and the hospital can provide you with detailed information (refer to link in bio).
• You would have a separate team of healthcare professionals dedicated to your care, ensuring you fully understand the risks and benefits while looking out for your best interests.
