A fully involved attatched garage fire occurred today and Peru Fire department only had 1 full time firefighter on shift to respond to this emergency. There were two rescues that had to be made by police officers as the single firefighter on shift was balancing other emergent fireground tasks.

We continue to respond to major incidents staffed with only 1 full-time firefighter on shift per day.

The city of Peru has a 7 story highrise and similarly responds routinely with only 1 full time firefighter on shift to emergencies at this building.

A Camden County fire department only had two firefighters to respond to a high-rise fire, officials said.
