It's getting closer to our upcoming fundraiser. Thanks to Tim Buchheit for hosting us again this year at Starlandin. Meet us there on July 11th from 5-10 pm. Food, music and fun will be provided for a $25 entry fee. If you buy your entry in advance, you will be eligible to win a JBF engraved Henry Golden Boy .22 while supplies last. This is BYOB event.

What an amazing experience it was to helped the Jared Burke Foundation make Brandon’s dream of harvesting an Ontario black bear a reality!
This hunt hit close to home for both Jamie and myself. We are incredibly grateful that the foundation trusted Horwood Lake Lodge to help make this special opportunity happen.
Brandon faces challenges every day, and our goal was to ensure he had the best chance possible at a successful hunt. We located several big bears on different bait sites, but the real challenge was building ground blinds out of brush that could accommodate both Brandon and his track chair. Accessibility was key. After five days of hard work, patience, and even moving to a new location, everything came together. With only 7 minutes remaining before the end of legal shooting time, Brandon harvested a beautiful big boar just 10 feet from the blind!
A huge congratulations to Brandon on an unforgettable hunt. Special thanks to BJ and Trevor for lending a hand getting the bear out of the bush and loading into the trailer for the trip back to the lodge.
