You can support the Sanctuary and have a cool license plate! Please consider selected the Ohio Bird Sanctuary plate when you renew your tags this year. You can even order online and skip the lines (https://bmvonline.dps.ohio.gov/oplates/). The cost is just $25 and the Sanctuary annually receives $15 from each license plate!

In celebration of Johnny Appleseed's 250th Birthday in 2024. The Appleseed Historic Byway committee has a traveling exhibit touring Richland and Ashland counties. "Sights and Sounds of Wetlands at Night"
Richland County Park District - Gorman Nature Center
Friday, April 26th 2024
8:30-9:45pm & 9:45-11pm
Come join us for a night hike to experience the sights and sounds of the Gorman Nature Center property after dark. The deafening chorus of spring peepers and toads must be heard to be believed, and maybe you will even hear an owl hoot or spot a Timberdoodle performing its spring dance. Wear shoes that can get dirty, as trails are often muddy this time of year.

If you have tires you would like to dispose of you can bring them to Pleasant Hill Lake Park's Welcome Center on October 21 from 9am-3pm.

* No more than 10 TIRES per load. It is a FELONY OFFENSE to have more than 10 tires.
* Car and LIGHT truck tires only.
* Must be off the rim.
* Must be free of debris.
* Once the trailer is full, we will not accept any more.

Apple cider pressing at Malabar Farm’s Ohio Heritage Days to kick off Appleseed’s 250th Birthday in 2024

Kick off the Johnny Appleseed’s 250th birthday celebration at Ohio Heritage Days at Malabar Farm State Park. The FREE event will run on Saturday, September 23 & Sunday, September 25, 2023 from 10am til 4pm both Days.

The Johnny Appleseed Historic Byway group & the Malabar Farm Foundation will be doing old fashioned Apple cider pressing with free samples. Give a try at chopping apples and pressing them into fresh Ohio apple cider.

The apple press demonstration will be located at the Ceely Rose Historical House at Malabar Farm. Sit and chat with Johnny Appleseed reenactor , display and Byway promotion both days from 10am-til 4pm
