With the passing of Sandra Pottle on February 6, 2026, we feel gratitude for her life.

Brian and I came to Jim and Sandra’s welcoming kitchen table after the death of our son, Seamus. Jim and Sandra hosted our events Winter Sports and Fun and Around the Lake for Stronghearts for the next 20 years. It was the beginning of a healing journey in the arms of nature and community.

Our wish is to know and love nature and our neighbors, to be generous, kind, fun, imaginative, and hardworking like Jim and Sandra Pottle. May they rest in peace, together in the beauty of the hills, trees, stream and pond they loved and nurtured.

The Pottle Tree Farm is open to you too, managed now by Andy and Deb Pottle. They have a welcoming table too.

Dear everybody:

With this fresh snow, people are wondering about Winter Sports and Fun at the Pottle Tree Farm.

We have decided that like the frogs and salamanders, there is a time to rest. After 21 years of Stronghearts events at the Pottle Tree Farm, we've decided to bring Stronghearts to a close, and won't be holding any more fundraising events.

We have so many deeply felt thank you's. Thank you to YOU, to the POTTLE TREE FARM, to the amazing faithful VOLUNTEERS, to the WCCC OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CENTER and to the wonderful CHILDREN we helped with congenital heart defects and the families who care for them. Thank you to Camp Meridian, amazing social workers, and all the others committed to supporting families.

We will always remember the fun and also what it means to live in community during times of grief. Thank you for helping us to remember and honor the lives of Seamus Duffy and Jim Pottle.

We hope that you continue to enjoy the outdoors in the middle of winter in the woods or by hoping for a fish in a frozen pond. Go ahead and make a fire with a friend and jump on a sled no matter how old you get. Try out skiing or fat biking or snowshoeing. Drink some Tide Mill hot chocolate and put on one of your favorite Stronghearts t-shirts. You might just have 21 to pick from.

And, finally, we hope you will remember children and families affected by congenital heart defects and take care of your own heart.

We raised nearly $1,600 dollars for families caring for children with congenital heart defects today.

We are always so grateful to the Pottle Tree Farm who has sponsored our event for 20 years!!

What a great day for Stronghearts Winter Sports and Fun Day! Lots of people of all ages had fun sliding, skating, snowshoeing, xc skiing, participating in a scavenger hunt and Winter Olympics!!!! There was delicious chili, hot chocolate, marshmallows, homemade goodies and, of course we had hotdogs to roast over the campfire!

BUT… some items got left behind! If you are missing a brown jacket, black ski pants, an orange hat or a sock send us a message to claim!

TODAY is Stronghearts Winter Sports and Fun Day! It is a great day and fun for ALL ages!
