A big thank you to Mr Terry McNair with Real Turf Solutions for taking the time to come speak to our young farmer members. He shared valuable insight on the strong connections between horticulture and the broader agriculture industry. He emphasized the importance of industry partners supporting agriculture education programs. We are especially grateful for business who invest in our students by providing opportunities for SAEs and supporting CDEs. Partnerships like this will continue to allow students to gain real world experience and continue growing as the next generation of agricultural leaders.

It’s blueberry season! We have several students and young farmer members in our system that grow and sell blueberries. Please contact if you are interested and we can get you in touch with them!

Georgia grows over 138 million pounds of blueberries each year. Making us one of the nation’s top producers! That’s a lot of muffins, smoothies, and pies, grown by hardworking Georgia farmers. 🫐

Really neat opportunity!

We are excited to spotlight our next guest speaker and vet Dr. Tyson Strickland. He is a Georgia native, and we are so proud to have the opportunity to work with him on a regular basis. Read below to learn a little more about him, his practice, and how he plans to help you discuss some of the basics on how to improve your herd during, The Gathering on September 14th at Circle F!

Tyson Strickland grew up on a small commercial beef cattle farm in Perry, GA and was active in the youth 4-H and FFA livestock programs. He attended the University of Georgia and received a Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science in 2011. As an undergraduate student, he was active in Block and Bridle, Alpha Gamma Rho, UGA Cattlemen’s Association, and competed on the UGA Colligate Meats Evaluation Team. He attended the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine as a Food Animal Veterinary Incentive Program Scholar with an emphasis in Food Animal Medicine and Production. He graduated from the UGA CVM in May 2016.

Dr. Strickland started Custom Livestock Solutions in June of 2016 and has grown the business over the last 8 years and is now a 4 doctor practice offering cattle and equine services, and so much more!

Dr. Strickland and his wife, Anna, married in 2016 and welcomed their daughter, Harper Ann, in 2020 and their newest addition Mary Elizabeth in 2023. They reside in Comer, Ga. but are proud to service all parts of Georgia.

Dr. Strickland will be speaking with visitors and guest on September 14th about the overall health of your herd, best practices, basic trends and much more. That afternoon, he will host a live chute side demonstration on vaccines, injection sites, basic cattle management and so much more! If you have questions, this will be the time to get those answered with hands on demonstrations.
