Day in and day out, crash responders put their lives at risk to protect the public. The goal of Crash Responder Safety Week is to remind drivers, passengers, and all who use our roadways of the critical role emergency responders play in keeping everyone safe. The safety of law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, towing and recovery, transportation and public works and others is vital so they can do their important work without incident. Yesterday, we were proud to welcome 3-year-old LJ Rivers home once again!

Diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia at just 18 months old, LJ has faced more than most do in a lifetime, and he’s done it with unbelievable strength and courage.

The kind of strength LJ has shown is exactly what Perry Fire is all about. To honor him, our crew stopped by with lights, sirens, and a special gift: a signed fire helmet with his very own custom shield. LJ is now our youngest honorary firefighter, and we’re proud to have him as part of our fire family.

We also want to recognize LJ’s incredible family, including his big sister Harper, who stood strong beside him through it all. We’re so thankful they let us be a small part of this special moment.

Welcome home, LJ! Here’s to staying healthy, happy, and in remission for good. You’ve got a whole firehouse full of friends cheering you on! ❤️🔥

Three more firefighters were added to the ranks of Perry Area Fire Rescue tonight. Dylan Atkins, Ben Pankey, and Kendra Littlefield (not present). They have worked hard to get to this point and we are very proud of them. Please join us in congratulating our newest firefighters. 👏
