The Rock Painting for Kids was a huge success! The theme was a Celebration of the 250th Birthday of the USA. We had 115 participants (15 were parents) and every child painted 2 rocks - one to take home and one to place in the Native Wings Garden at the Perry Public Library. A big thanks to Beth McLaughlin, Beth Tabor, and Cindy Oxendine for their assistance and to Yolanda Young at the library. It was fun and educational!

Stars, Stripes and Stories - A Patriotic Celebration at Pineola Farms

Join us on Saturday, June 27, from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM for a Patriotic Celebration as we Honor 250 years of America!

Explore a beautiful collection of antique flags and American memorabilia inside the historic home. Guided tours of the house will be offered at 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2:00 PM.

Stroll the gardens at your leisure and soak in the patriotic spirit as we get ready for the Independence Day Celebration!
Enjoy lunch on the grounds! Hot dogs and specialty lemonade will be available for purchase.

President George Washington, Governor John Houston, and Button Gwinnett joined local dignitaries on June 2nd in Perry to celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary. A Liberty Tree Marker Dedication Ceremony was held at the Houston County Courthouse. The event was organized by the Georgia Society, Sons of the American Revolution in partnership with our General Daniel Stewart Chapter, NSDAR, and Sukey Hart Chapter, NSDAR. Houston County Commissioner Chairman Dan Perdue shared the meaning of the Liberty Tree. The SAR Brier Creek Militia provided an exciting cannon firing, and the event concluded with unveiling a special plaque at the base of a native oak tree.

Today we enjoyed a delicious luncheon prepared by the HALO Group and welcomed Georgia State Regent Helen Powell, who installed our officers for the 2026-2028 term. We welcome our new Regent, Beth McLaughlin, along with the other officers, and extend thanks to all the ladies who have served diligently the past two years. General Daniel Stewart Chapter is fortunate to have talented and dedicated members and is looking forward to another productive year.

The General Daniel Stewart Chapter NSDAR presented a proclamation to the Perry City Council on May 5, 2026. This proclamation, which commemorates the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, was read by Mayor Randall Walker at the beginning of the City Council meeting. It is part of our celebration of America's 250th Anniversary.

The General Daniel Stewart Chapter NSDAR enjoyed a splendid Liberty Tree Planting Ceremony today at the UGA Houston County Extension Office in Perry. Led by Clare Swinford and Beth McLaughlin, we began the event inside with remarks by Regent Clare Swinford, presentation of colors by the Perry High School AFROTC, and an explanation of the significance of a Liberty Tree. We transitioned to the outdoor area where a Tulip Poplar had been planted as our Liberty Tree and marked by a beautiful plaque commemorating the tree. Beth McLaughlin officiated at this part of the ceremony and then invited everyone to enjoy refreshments. Approximately 50 people were in attendance including members of the Sukey Hart Chapter NSDAR, the Lt. James Monroe Chapter NSDAR, and the Ocmulgee Chapter SAR.. It was a wonderful kickoff to our celebration of the 250th birthday of our country!
