We were blessed with a beautiful day for our Memorial Day observances at both St. Nicholas Cemetery and Perkins Cemetery.

Thank you to everyone who attended as we gathered to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

A special thank you to Jamie Hanson and the members of American Legion Auxiliary Post 540 for representing our community and helping make the ceremonies meaningful. Jamie served as our Master of Ceremonies, offering both the invocation and memorial address, helping us reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day and the sacrifices of our nation's heroes.

Thank you as well to all who participated and helped preserve this important tradition. We are grateful for the opportunity to come together as a community to pay tribute to those who gave so much for our freedom.

American Legion Post 540 & Auxiliary invite the community to join us for our Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 25, 2026, as we honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Ceremonies will begin at:
📍 St. Nicholas Cemetery – 10:00 AM
📍 Perkins Cemetery – 11:00 AM

Following the ceremonies, a luncheon will be held at the Lions Club Hall in Perkins. All are welcome to attend.

In case of rain, all ceremonies will be held at the Lions Club Hall in Perkins.

We hope you will join us as we pause to remember and honor our fallen heroes.

The Caring Cupboard is now open at Bethany Lutheran Church in Perkins.

This emergency pantry is available to any who are in need. Enter the front entryway of the church. There is a sign on the door. Take what you need. Leave donations if you are able.

Items Available: food staples, soup mixes, personal hygiene products, pantry staples, etc.

Items are restocked each Wednesday.

Mid Peninsula School 4th graders had a special opportunity on Friday, April 24, 2026, to learn about the American flag thanks to members of Perkins American Legion and Auxiliary Post 540 🇺🇸

Dawn Delaney, Dianne LaChance, and Natasha Dedic spent time with the class sharing the importance, history, and proper handling of the flag. The students were eager to learn and did an amazing job practicing how to properly fold it!

With 5th graders currently responsible for raising and lowering the flag each day, this 4th grade class is already well on their way to being prepared for next year’s duties.

A big thank you to Post 540 for investing in our students and helping instill respect for our nation’s symbols!

Great turnout at our first All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast of the year! 🎉

Congratulations to Mary Simonson, who won $78 in the 50/50 raffle!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the breakfast a success—we truly appreciate your time and effort. And an even bigger thank you to all who came out to enjoy the meal, connect with friends and neighbors, and support our community. That social time together is what makes these events so special!
