She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Literature for her novel, The Good Earth, and the Nobel Prize in Literature for her body of work. Buck used the spotlight on her to shine a light on the plight of marginalized people everywhere and to advocat

e for the civil rights movement in the U.S. She also founded Welcome House (the world’s first international biracial adoption agency) and established The Pearl S. Buck Foundation (now Pearl S. Buck International) to provide international humanitarian aid. Buck’s groundbreaking words and work paved the way for greater international and intercultural understanding. Join us on September 12 from 10 am-12 noon for our Rain Poetry Reveal Community Celebration. Over the summer, in partnership with Bucks County Library – Doylestown, a group of local young student poets learned about haiku, wrote their own, and created an art project thanks to a grant from PA Humanities. Their original poetry and art will be revealed using water in an outdoor art installation. This celebration will also include live poetry readings and fun outdoor kids’ activities. As the new school year is getting underway, you can help orphans served by our office in Vietnam have the means to get to and stay in school. Each day, the journey to and from school (four trips daily) covers a distance of nearly 40 kilometers. As there are no convenient bus routes available, the children must rely on electric bicycles for daily transportation. You can ensure they can get the education they need to both survive and thrive by donating to our Batteries for Electric Bikes project:
