Deep Run 11u White hosted a massively successful Memorial Day Weekend Field of Dreams Tournament despite 4 days of rain. While the team missed the playoffs on the 5th tiebreaker by 1 run, the team came together and rallied going 2-1.
The Coaching Staff would like to thank all of our families that spent 4 hours on both Thursday and Friday afternoons getting the fields ready. Saturday was a washout, but the dads returned Sunday at 8 am working all the way up to first pitch at 2pm to get 4 fields in safe, playable condition with games ending after 8pm. The same thing happened Monday, 8 AM field work, 1pm first pitch and finally closing the tournament at 8:30 PM!
Umpires, opposing coaches, and their families commented on how Deep Run pulled off the impossible. Day in and day out teams did not expect to be playing, but through hard work and dedication to the team, every single tournament game was played. Many people submitted Michelin Star Reviews for our snack bar. Thank you Moms, the backbone of our team.
Another thank you to our community. Doug Bagley and family, Geoff Dodd and family, Jeff Tiemann and family, Kevin Leddy, Evan Lowery, Kyle Fetch, and others all gave hours of their time to help us provide a safe and fun tournament environment. On a weekend where everyone could have stayed dry, these wonderful people got their mud boots on and supported us to the end.
Deep Run showed why we are not only a community of top tier baseball players but also great families. All 15 teams in attendance were amazed that Deep Run was able to host 25 games on a weekend with record breaking rain.
Thank you 11u White families and the Deep Run Community for making this weekend possible!
