Orange High School was recently approved through the State of Ohio to offer pre-apprenticeships in the areas of hospitality and tourism, finance, health science, and information technology. Orange Schools Foundation is proud to work with OHS to help bring the pre-apprenticeship requirement for the hospitality cluster in-house.

Students who receive the pre- apprenticeship certification will meet requirements for an alternate pathway to graduation- this makes it an attainable option for students of all abilities to graduate without any IEP exemptions. Students also will meet the requirements for college, career, workforce, and military readiness - a factor that is reported on the Ohio Report Card.

This grant is funded by The Hurwitz Family Fund for Differentiated Learning.

Grant in Action: The Plant Rescue Club offers an opportunity for students and staff to learn about different types of plants, and the exact care each one needs. The club has partnered with Trader Joes to receive complimentary plants on a weekly basis that would otherwise be thrown away. The goal is to learn how to nurture the plants back to health, which requires research and ongoing care.

Orange Schools Foundation is proud to be a part of this grant to provide tools such as trellises and lamps to help the plants thrive. Other partners include OHS staff who have donated items such as watering cans, pots, etc. and the arts department for creating custom plant picks that indicate the type of plant and who is responsible for their care. Plants can be found throughout OHS!
