Meet the Fine Arts Booster Club!
Board Member Spotlight!

Scott Miller

Parent of:

Kathryn, class of 2024: Thespian, theater tech for multiple plays and musicals, including roles as stage manager and student tech director. Art - 2D & 3D design.

Kieran, 12th grade: Band - currently tuba/sousaphone, previously trumpet, trombone, percussion. Jazz/Modern Band. Art - ceramics, drawing.

Scott took multiple art classes. Ceramic was his favorite medium. He was also in Art Club in high school.

Scott is just happy to give kids an opportunity to participate in something they love!

If you could have front row seats to any performance, concert or art exhibition in history, what would it be?

Does hanging out with Leonardo da Vinci count? If not, maybe Tool thirty years ago or Sutton Foster in either Thoroughly Modern Millie or Anything Goes.

Shop and Support the Peotone Fine Arts Boosters!

It's September already! So what's blooming now?

It's great to have overlapping bloom times. Not only for all seasons interest, but especially for this time of year when Monarchs are traveling south, and other pollinators need nectar sources to prepare for winter.

General good choices for this time of year are Symphyotrichum (Asters), Solidago or Oligoneuron (Goldenrods), Vernonia (Ironweeds).

Pictured:
Ageratina altissima (White Snakeroot)
Conoclinium coelestinum (Mistflower)
Helenium autumnale (Sneezeweed)
Helianthus mollis (Downy Sunflower)
Symphyotrichum ericoides (Heath Aster)
Silene stellata (Starry Campion)
Sporobolus heterolepis (Prairie Dropseed)

Fine Arts Booster Club Board Member Spotlight!

Meet Meghan Schmidt; Vice President.

Meghan’s’ connection to the fine arts programs are her children! Finn; 11th grade, Choir, Show Choir, Thespian, Musical on stage cast and past tech crew member in Peotone as well as on stage in community theatre.
Hayden; 9th grade, Choir, Show Choir, Musical and play cast member in Jr High and community theatre, soon to make her High School debut performance on stage in Little Woman!

In Meghan’s school aged years she participated in the fine arts at her small private Jr High. She was in choir and a couple musical/plays. She was understudy for a musical role once and dreaded the possibility of having to step in! She has NO idea where her kids get the confidence to be on stage from, because it isn't from her!

Meghan is most looking forward to (hopefully) growing our members for more participation and support for the arts. It is such a great outlet for these kids, they need as much support from the community as possible! Also, she LOVES Show Choir season and am really looking forward to that!

Meghan, if you could have front row seats to any performance, concert or art exhibition in history, what would it be?
Oh, this one is hard for me! I love music, so I think I would have loved to be front row to see The Beatles! It was such an iconic time for rock and roll, plus my mom always talked about going to see them live and how amazing it was!
