Take a sneak peek into rehearsal for the beloved “Grape Dance,” featuring our talented company dancers. Set to Adolphe Adam’s beautiful score, this lively scene captures the joy and celebration of the peasants during the grape harvest. 🍇

Behind the beauty and joy of this scene lies the incredible strength, stamina, and artistry of our dancers, qualities that will carry them from the excitement of Act I into the deeply emotional journey that unfolds in Act II.

Her incredible talent, passion, and presence bring such a beautiful energy to our studio. We are so grateful to have her sharing her knowledge, love, and passion for ballet and the arts with our community!

Get to know Laura and learn more about her dance journey and history below! 🤍✨

Laura Sonnek is from Springfield, Illinois. She attended Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s Pre-Professional Program after receiving their highly competitive Female Ballet Training Scholarship. She most recently trained and performed with Orlando Ballet School and Orlando Ballet, appearing in the corps de ballet of Giselle, Christopher Stowell's Swan Lake, James Sofranko's Romeo and Juliet, and Jorden Morris' The Nutcracker, as well as Disney's Young People's Concerts. Known for her commanding stage presence and flair for dramatic acting, her featured roles included Lady Montague in Romeo and Juliet, the Queen Mother in Swan Lake, and the Cook in The Nutcracker. She also performed excerpts from Raymonda and La Bayadère with the school, and trained under choreographer and former New York City Ballet dancer Giovanni Villalobos.

Take a look at Giselle and Albrecht rehearsing the Act I Peasant Waltz!

In this hauntingly beautiful ballet, Albrecht disguises himself as a peasant to win Giselle’s heart. But when his true noble identity and engagement are exposed, the betrayal drives her to a fatal madness.

Even from beyond the grave, Giselle chooses love over revenge. When vengeful spirits sentence a remorseful Albrecht to dance to his death, she dances with him through the night, protecting him until dawn breaks the curse.

A tragic masterpiece about deception, redemption, and a love stronger than death itself. 🕊️

Central Illinois Ballet is thrilled to announce a new season of classical ballet, beloved traditions, exciting new works, and the next generation of dancers!

Under the artistic direction of Jessie Williams, this season brings three full-length classical ballets to ICC, a returning favorite to our BlackBox, and a showcase celebrating the students of Cornerstone Academy. We can’t wait to share this season with you!

🩰 GISELLE
A beloved classic returns, bigger and more breathtaking than ever! Featuring new dancers, expanded casting, and new choreography, this reimagined Giselle returns to ICC. If you loved our production two years ago, you won’t want to miss this one!

🎄 THE NUTCRACKER
There’s nothing quite like this holiday tradition! Our annual production returns with expanded casting, enhanced choreography, and elevated theatrical design. Make The Nutcracker part of your holiday tradition!

🎭 COPPÉLIA
For the first time, Central Illinois Ballet brings a brand-new production of Coppélia to Peoria! With all-new choreography, costumes, and set designs, this charming and comedic ballet is perfect for audiences of every age.

🌟 CORNERSTONE ACADEMY STUDENT SHOWCASE
Watch the next generation of dancers shine! Featuring students ages 2 and up from the Primary and Pre-Professional divisions, this annual showcase celebrates their growth, dedication, and artistry.

🎶 BALLET TO BROADWAY
We’re closing the season with a CIB favorite, returning for the third time! From ballet and pointe to jazz, tap, musical theater, and more, Ballet to Broadway has something for everyone. Brand-new pieces and fan favorites make it the perfect finale!

Central Illinois Ballet invites dancers ages 2 and up to audition for our annual production of The Nutcracker, a magical holiday tradition that creates lasting memories both on and off the stage.

This cherished production features:
🩰 Original choreography by Jessie Williams
💫 The professional company of Central Illinois Ballet
🎭 Beautiful costumes handcrafted by our talented in-house seamstress and dedicated volunteers
🎼 Tchaikovsky's timeless and beloved score
❄️ An unforgettable performance experience for dancers of all ages and levels

As we close the curtain on Sleeping Beauty, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped make this production such a remarkable success. To our dancers, students, volunteers, families, and audiences-thank you for your unwavering support, dedication, and enthusiasm. Your presence and encouragement mean more to us than words can express. 🌸

We are also incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make our 25/26 season truly unforgettable. This season has been filled with growth, artistry, and countless meaningful moments that will stay with us for years to come.

To our company dancers: thank you for 33 weeks of extraordinary commitment, passion, and hard work. The level of artistry, professionalism, and heart you brought to the studio and stage has been nothing short of inspiring. You are not only exceptional artists, but exceptional individuals, and it has been an honor to share this journey together. 💞
