The Olivet Nazarene University Hockey Team is hosting a special Military Appreciation Game on November 6 at 7:00 PM, and military members and Gold Star Families are invited to attend FREE OF CHARGE! 🇺🇸

⭐ This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate those who serve, and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

🇺🇸 **OCTOBER IS HERE… AND THE HOLIDAYS ARE COMING.** 🇺🇸

As we enter October, many of us are already thinking about Thanksgiving, Christmas, family gatherings, gifts, and making memories with the people we love.

And perhaps one of the questions we are asked most often:

❓ **“Does America’s Gold Star Families receive federal funding?”**

**No.**

🇺🇸 **America’s Gold Star Families is funded by DONATIONS. We do not receive federal funding to operate our organization.**

That means when we reach out to help a Gold Star Family, provide support to a child of the fallen, offer scholarships, provide assistance, or create opportunities for families to come together, **your donations make that possible.**

As the holidays approach, we are asking our community to consider making a donation to our **Children of the Fallen Campaign.**

Even a small donation can help us continue letting these children know:

**Your parent is not forgotten.
Your family is not forgotten.

Today, we pause to honor the mothers and families who carry the lifelong legacy of a loved one who gave their life while serving our nation.

⭐ THE HISTORY OF THE GOLD STAR

The tradition of the Gold Star dates back to World War I. Families displayed service flags in their windows to show that a loved one was serving. A blue star represented a family member serving in the military. When that service member died, the blue star was replaced or covered by a gold star, signifying the family’s tremendous loss.

Today, the Gold Star represents much more than a symbol. It represents love, sacrifice, loss, remembrance, and an enduring commitment to never forget.

Behind every Gold Star is a story.
Behind every Gold Star is a family.
Behind every Gold Star is a life that mattered.

Today, we remember the fallen and stand beside the mothers, fathers, spouses, children, siblings, and families who continue to carry their legacy.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget. 🇺🇸⭐
