Subject: CHW Billing Is Coming. Here Is How to Stay in the Know.
Greetings from the Tri-County Urban League. We are honored to serve as a Region 5 Ambassador Organization for the Illinois Public Health Association's (IPHA) Community Health Worker (CHW) Campaign, in partnership with the Illinois Department of Public Health. This campaign is helping connect individuals and organizations across Central Illinois to the resources, training, and support they need to be prepared for CHW certification and Medicaid billing that will advance the CHW profession and access to healthcare in our region.
About the Campaign
IPHA launched a statewide Community Health Worker Campaign designed to strengthen and expand the CHW workforce across Illinois. This campaign is working to help public health, healthcare, and human service organizations better understand the value CHWs bring to their teams, how CHW certification works, and how organizations can access funding, including new Medicaid billing, to support CHW services. The goal is to build organizational capacity to effectively hire, supervise, and integrate CHWs into organizations across the state.
At the same time, the campaign is reaching current and prospective CHWs directly, raising awareness of the CHW certification program and connecting community members to a profession that is growing and increasingly recognized across Illinois.
Changes to Medicaid billing are coming soon and will allow organizations to be reimbursed for specific CHW services. If you want to stay informed as these changes roll out, including updates on training programs, certification pathways, billing processes, and campaign resources, now is the time to register.
