HURRAY! Today Governor Pritzker signed the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act! This was a huge effort by people all across the state to move Illinois forward on clean, reliable, less cost energy! The IL Climate Jobs Coalition members held THREE lobby days bringing over 900 advocates to the State Capitol to advocate for the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act and other climate priorities. We met with lawmakers, rallied, and made our demand for clean energy heard!
Sierra Club, IEC, Prairie Rivers Network, Climate Cabinet, Green Latinos, Clean Power Lake County, CUB, Vote Solar, and many other partners hosted and participated in town halls to educate community members across the state about the CRGA Act and urge them to take action. Thanks to all who helped with this huge step forward for a cleaner, safer, lower cost energy future for us all!

Contact Joyce B for carpooling tomorrow night: DATA CENTER plans underway in Fulton County: Wed. Dec. 17th, 5 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Building, Lewiston, Fulton County, the Fulton County Zoning Board of Appeals will be voting on a request for a change of existing Agricultural Zoning to Industrial for land for a Data Center with very little information about what is being planned. IAC Investments, Canton, is listed as the entity requesting the zoning change. The location is southwest of Canton on the Cuba Blacktop/W. Hickory and east of the corner of the road going to the Spoon River Jr. College. From various Facebook postings (see Fulton County 50501 and Fulton County Data Center) the property was purchased by payment of back taxes. Word from a local is the project will use air cooling and have a solar field for energy, but it is not known if these will cover all the cooling and energy needs, how big this center will be and what is intended regarding future growth. Another comment heard is that there is a 'Boutique Data Center' (a smaller project) also in progress in another part of Fulton County. To give public comments you must request time in writing. There looks to be significant local opposition, but the County Board has already voted to give Data Centers the Industrial Zoning qualification which makes their process easier. RE: December 17 FC Zoning Board Meeting Topic Rezoning 31 Acres @ County Highway 5/County Highway 22 for a Proposed Data Center
For those who wish to address the Board regarding this topic, the following is the process by which you can request time to do so:
There is an opportunity given at the beginning of the ZBA meeting for public comments on topics that are not on the agenda that evening.
Public Remarks
Members of the Public who wish to address the Board must provide the Chairperson with prior written notice of their intent to speak. The written notice shall identify the name and address of the speaker, as well as a short statement indicating the speaker’s topic. Each citizen is limited to five (5) minutes. Citizen’s remarks shall not exceed 30 minutes per meeting.
Public comment speakers will be called upon in the order their notice was submitted. If there is a topic that several people wish to speak about, it is best to organize it in a way that you can get all of your points covered in the allowed 30-minute time limit. Notices can be emailed to [email protected] or mailed/dropped off to the Fulton County Zoning Office, 257 W. Lincoln St.. Lewistown, IL 61542.
During the re-zoning hearing there is a time for anyone in attendance to be sworn in to present evidence for or against that matter. The procedure for the hearing is explained by the moderator to everyone in attendance before the hearings begin.
If you have questions regarding this process, they can be answered by Zoning Officer Kim Mayberry at 309-547-0902 or via email to [email protected].
