From My Camera to the Gallery Wall: Natalie Jackson
“If you’re ready to take your art from the confines of your studio and have it placed on gallery walls, come join me as I share practical strategies to help you do just that. I’ll be discussing how I’ve taken my work from being viewed on the back of my camera to being showcased in the front windows of galleries. Let’s talk about making your art visible, valued, and seen!”

Peoria Camera Club typically meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from September to May. We meet at the Life Together Center located at 3625 N Sheridan Rd (at War Memorial Dr) in Peoria, IL. Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just starting out, we invite you to join us for an evening of learning, inspiration, and community.

Visitors are welcome but we suggest you email us at [email protected].

Want to get started in macro photography, but don't know how to start?
Do you know the basics, but want an opportunity to practice?
Join us at our March 3rd 6:30pm meeting. We will be holding a macro photography workshop. We will have tables to hold props, lights and backdrops to help bring your vision to life, and some club experts to help when needed.
Be sure to bring your camera and tripod. If you have a macro lens, extension tubes, a focusing rail, or anything else macro related, please bring them. We encourage you to BYOP (bring your own prop), so if you have something you think will look interesting close up, bring it. If you don't have a prop in mind, don't worry, there will be plenty to share.

Attracting and Photographing Birds & Wildlife in your own Backyard

Local photographer Julie Dodge is intrigued with both the natural world and the animals that inhabit the wilds. She transformed her woodland backyard into a wildlife sanctuary, attracting resident songbirds, woodpeckers, raptors, and wildlife. An unexpected accident left Julie healing in a recliner for months. To pass the time, Julie began photographing the birds who inhabited her backyard and studying bird behavior. From the cast of typical year-round residents to songbirds that migrate with the seasons, she created a portfolio of bird “portraits” that she enjoys sharing with fellow nature lovers and photographers.

Julie is a lifelong native of Central Illinois who focuses her work primarily on local landscapes, wildlife, and nature. She believes, “you don’t have to travel far to capture nature’s beauty—it’s right here in our own backyard.” Julie also spends her time exploring the many pockets of nature hidden in plain sight, photographing magical spaces along the Illinois River valley, capturing the seasons within our nature preserves, and sharing imagery and stories with community.
Also, the results of our Print 2 competition will be show with judge’s comments.

“1906 San Francisco Earthquake”
Karolinn Schmidt O’Connor was in San Francisco at the time of the great quake of 1906. Her photographs of the devastation were discovered in the mid 1980’s at the bottom of an old trunk in the attic of her sister’s home in Peoria, IL.
Her great niece, Becky Schmidt Dailey, inherited these original photographs from her father. She used her photographic skill to restore them. Becky has assembled a historical journey from before and after the quake. Join us Oct. 7th for a photographic journey back in time.
