The President General is the official spokesperson on issues that have not been addressed as policy of NSDAR. On Flag Day, June 14, 1896, in Peoria, Illinois, the Peoria Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution organized with 16 women as charter members. The name was chosen to commemorate the Peoria Indians who once lived in this area and to identify with the city. The Peoria Chapter no
