Due to striping tomorrow, if you live on Moss between Sheridan and Duryea and including Barker, please refrain from parking on the road/bricks. Itll make it easier for the contractor to their work without cars in the way. I will try and get out early enough to have No Parking signs throughout the job.

All,
I have just been informed that the stripers will be on site Monday morning. Whats this mean? There is going to be a lot of equipment and working on site. The road will not be shut down, neither will your driveways, but there will be minor conveniences throughout the day. I don’t know if they plan on doing it all in one day or over 2 days. They have quite a bit to stripe from Duryea to Sheridan. Please be mindful of the workers and be patient with the workers.

Good afternoon,
Crews continue to knock out the punch list as we wait for the stripers to arrive. We are hoping they will be on site next week. Oberlander will be fixing the 3 lights that are out near Garfield next week. Signs will start going back up next week, and crews will be picking up barricades and sandbags in the sidewalk areas. Right now, the road will continue to be one way, and Union Hill will continue to be closed. We hope to have most items wrapped up by the end of next week.

Couple reminders:
Please try and avoid driving on the sod coming out of your driveways. I would hold off on mowing the sod as well.
Please avoid blowing grass clippings and leaves into the street, especially in the brick area. Not only is it a city ordinance, in order for the brick to work like they are intended to do so, they need to stay as clean as possible.

Good afternoon,
We are inching ever so closely to the finish line for the Moss Ave. project. UCM is still working on the punch list and odds and ends and hope to have everything wrapped up by the end of next week. This includes the punch list, asphalt patching, and signs. Oberlander has finished the lights and the PED buttons at the MacArthur Intersection. We are aware there are 3 lights that don’t work on the north side in between MacArthur and Garfield, the city is working on that issue and hope to have it resolved early next week. Kelch has finished with sod and topsoil. They will continue to water for the next few weeks. Please refrain from mowing the new sod until the roots take. The final item to be addressed will be the pavement markings. Varsity striping is aware that they can come in any time, and we are on their schedule, but they can’t give us an accurate timetable on when they will be in. They are the most popular subcontractor this time of year as everyone tries and gets striping done before the spec. window closes and its too cold. I promise you that when I know they are coming; I will let you know. They may only give a 12-hour notice, but I will let you know via email. For now, Union Hill will remain closed and Moss will stay on way from Sheridan to MacArthur. Douglas and Garfield are open. Hopefully next week we have a better idea on when striping is going to happen and at that point we will make a decision on when the road will be open to 2-way traffic. Lights will stay flashing at MacArthur due to it still being one way and the fact that the traffic pattern at the intersection on Moss has changed. If you have anything that you would like to be looked at by myself and Mandy, now is the time to speak up, because I don’t know if UCM will be on site after next week.

If you have any questions/comments/concerns, now is the time to do so before its too late.

Good morning,
Another week in the books on Moss Ave. has put us closer to the finish line. Both raised crosswalks are poured and open. UCM has started addressing punch list items and they will continue to through next week for however long it takes them. There is a small amount of asphalt to address, and we hope we can get that done next week as well. Kelch will be in to finish all the topsoil and sod next week. They will continue to water the sod daily. Oberlander will be in to pull wire and put up lights next week as well. The last item that will be addressed is striping and I will let you know when they plan on being on site. I’m assuming that striping will take 2 or more days.

Trash-or-Treat is coming up! 🗑️🍬

On Saturday, October 17, join Community Development staff and community volunteers for a neighborhood litter cleanup in the West Bluff from 10 a.m.-11 a.m., and be rewarded with Halloween treats!

Meet us at the corner of Main and University Streets at the Campustown Shopping Center, 1200 W. Main Street. Costumes are welcome for this family-friendly event. We will provide trash bags, gloves, and a limited supply of trash grabbers. See you there!
