The Equity in Procurement Expo will be hosted on Thursday, March 28, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm
at the Peoria Civic Center, Room 200, 201 SW Jefferson.
The event will allow attendees to learn about the City’s procurement process, register with the
City’s Minority and Women-Owned Business Registry, and meet with additional government
agencies. Light refreshments will be served, and free parking will be available in the Civic Center
parking lot at Monroe and Fulton Streets.

We are pleased to share with you that the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) and LISC have partnered on a new program, the Next Generation Capacity Building Initiative (Next Gen). Next Gen provides training and resources to BIPOC developers in Illinois interested in creating affordable housing through Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). Our goal is to expand the talent pipeline and increase diversity within the affordable housing development field.

The Local Food Purchasing Assistance application is open until October 31 and is called Illinois – Equitable Access Towards Sustainable Systems (EATS), funded by LFPA. If you hear folks talking about EATS – it’s the same thing as LFPA! This past week I along with our LISC Central Illinois FOC Network partners had the opportunity to attend the Financial Opportunity Center® National Convening held in Indianapolis, Indiana. I had the opportunity to network/connect with colleagues from across the nation. This convening brough together LISC’ Local and national staff, Financial Opportunity Center staff, key intermediary partners in the skills training and financial stability fields, and key donors. Participants had the opportunity to attend various workshops such as Making the Right Employment Match and Behavioral Science and Coaching: Designing for Success.
