May 9th, 2026 - Kiwanis Club of Peoria - Downtown, was proud to contribute to the Spring Beautification Project at Kiwanis London House. A great time was had by all, and with a nice lunch served by some of the great residents there! Thanks as well to Natalie from Peoria Christian Key Club for her help alongside the 7 Kiwanians.

The idea for London House was conceived in 1960 because Kiwanians were aware of the need for suitable low-cost apartments for healthy, active, independent senior citizens. A corporation was created among three Kiwanis Clubs... Peoria South-West, Peoria-Downtown, and the Suburban Club. The money was raised and a building loan was aquired in 1961, and ground breaking for the construction was May 22, 1962. A lovely place to live still today!

Kiwanis Club of Peoria is proud once again to host the banquets for Outstanding Teacher of the Year! The first one (April 22) for Grade/Middle School teachers, and the second (April 29th) for High School teachers.

The first one is:

Wednesday, April 22nd. Peoria Federation of Teachers is sponsoring the awards for the Peoria Grade School and Middle School teachers. One teacher from each of these schools will be honored as Outstanding Teacher of the Year 2026.

Coming Wednesday, August 27th! The Kiwanis Club of Peoria - Downtown is proud to present the TRI-COUNTY CITIZEN OF THE YEAR. The banquet to announce and honor the winner will be at 6:00 pm at the Lariat Steakhouse in Peoria, IL. Mr. Greg Batton will emcee the event!!

Tickets are $35. The public and media are welcome, but you must make your reservations in advance by calling 309 370-3589.

We are excited to reinstate this annual award for our tri-county area, as this will be the first awarded since covid. In addition to honoring the Tri-County Citizen of the Year, this same evening, we will also honor our club's members who have more than 20 years of membership with Kiwanis.

Announcement - Peoria, IL - Mayoral Debate.
The Kiwanis Club of Peoria will be hosting a Mayoral Debate for Mayor Rita Ali and Mr. John Kelly on Wednesday, March 26th at the Lariat Steakhouse, 2232 W. Glen Ave., Peoria.

We are delighted to host these distinguished leaders, and grateful that they have both accepted our invitation to participate.

A $20 buffet lunch will be offered at 11:30 and the debate will begin shortly after noon.

The Kiwanis Club of Peoria is up to 74 members strong and still welcoming new members! We have 107 years of history serving the children of the local area, the community and the world.

We had a blast yesterday creating 400 healthy and tasty snack packs for kids in the area to enjoy on weekends (200 each Friday). Many thanks to Peoria Flag and Decorating for the use of their space and to Midwest Food Bank for providing most of the food!
