💔 Today, Athena got to spend a little time in the med room with our volunteers as they prepared medications for the cats and dogs in our care. For a little while, she got to be more than just another dog in a kennel. She got attention, companionship, and a little break from the four walls she has come to know all too well. 🥺🐾

But the heartbreaking truth is that Athena is struggling. After nearly ONE YEAR in our shelter system, the stress of shelter life is taking its toll on this sweet girl. Day after day, she watches life happen outside her kennel, waiting for someone to finally choose her.

Athena deserves so much more than this. She deserves a couch to call her own, a family to love her, and the comfort of knowing she doesn’t have to wonder when her next chance to leave will come. She deserves to wake up in a home where she belongs, not another day in a shelter.

Our volunteers can give her love. We can give her attention. We can take her out for little moments of happiness. But we cannot give her the one thing she needs most: a home of her own. 💔

Please, don’t let Athena’s story become one of the ones we tell about the dog who waited too long. She has already spent nearly a year waiting for her life to begin.

Athena is waiting. Her heart is still open. And somewhere out there, her person is missing out on a love that has been sitting in a shelter, hoping to be found. 🐾❤️

Please share her story. Help us get Athena out of the shelter and into the home she so desperately deserves. Her time here should be a chapter in her story, not her whole story. 🥺

Meet Lily Ann – A Beautiful Calico 🐾❤️

Lily Ann is a gorgeous young calico who has left the kitten stage behind but certainly hasn't forgotten how to have fun!

This sweet girl has a wonderful balance of playfulness and affection. She loves people, and if there's an available lap, you can bet Lily Ann will be happy to claim it! She's perfectly content soaking up all the love and attention you're willing to give.

Lily Ann also gets along well with the other cats at the shelter, making her a lovely candidate for a home with feline companions.

Beautiful, affectionate, playful, and sociable – what more could you ask for?

On Sunday, October 25th, a group of our volunteers will get together to build Community Cat Winter Shelters. Our goal is to make 30 that day. Many people have asked to have one or more reserved for them. Actually, 25 are already spoken for. There is a link in the first comment below, click to see if your name is on the list. If it isn't please say, so you can be added. There is no charge. Each shelter will be filled with straw and extra straw provided.
