Discover Donovan Day will be Sunday May 18, from 2 pm to 5 pm, featuring live music, fishing lessons, food trucks, vendors and guided hikes within the park.
Guided hikes will include Restoration and Donovan Sculpture Garden. Self guided hikes for the Arboretum.

Tentative plans for a third Discover Donovan Day is in the works for Sunday May 18, 2025. Any ideas or offers of volunteers are welcome to make this year's event another great one.

he second annual Discover Donovan Park Day will occur on Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 2 pm until 5pm, outdoors at Donovan Park.

There will be live music, food vendors, information tables, outdoor activities that include learning to fly kites, learning to fish, viewing a puppet show by Girl Scout troop 4031, a cloud appreciation workshop, family yoga, solar telescope viewing and native plant sales.

There will be hikes to view the Donovan Sculpture Garden, natural area restoration sites and the Donovan arboretum. A sunset hike to look and listen for wildlife will be followed by lunar views from the Donovan Park Observatory.

The event is totally free to the public.

Music will be provided by Matt Eckberg.
Food vendors include Tony’s on wheels, Gramma Nanans Kitchen, Popcorn Heaven and Parks on Tap.

This event is sponsored by the Friends of Donovan Park Open Space and the Friends of Rocky Glen. Supporting groups include Hooked on Fishing, Sky Climbers and the Peoria Astronomical Society.
