Start your summer at the Shed with our Tues-Sat writing hours! This First Friday, enjoy the musical talents of Nicole Montgomery, a local musician with a flair for storytelling, and create your own Blackout Poem. On Sunday, June 7th, meet with us and Lit. on Fire Books at the River Kitty Cafe’s LGBTQ+ Community Night. And on June 24th we’ll keep the mic hot for you at Get Lit. Open Mic Night!

For the month of June 2026 only, Get Lit. Open Mic will be on a different Wednesday of the month instead of the usual 3rd Wednesday. We’ll resume our normal schedule in July.

• Tuesdays 2-8 PM
• Wednesdays 12-6 PM
• Thursdays 2-8 PM
• Fridays 12-6 PM
• Saturdays 12-6 PM

🎤 Community Events with Lit. On Fire Books:

🎉 We’re giving away one ticket to Business of Art, taking place April 11! Writer friends, this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. If you plan to publish your work, this session of Business of Art will kickstart your author business.

You’ll spend the day actually working on your creative business and leave with real progress. You’ll get resources to support you. And you may check off items from your To Do list including a professional headshot, registration for an LLC, learning how to copyright your work, creating marketing materials, and more! Even if you’re not ready to form an LLC or copyright your work, you’ll have the tools to do it later.

This First Friday, write a short story by yourself or with the whole community! Stop by anytime from 5-8 PM on Friday, March 6th, for our First Friday Open Shed! 

Jump into our story relay, where you and the whole community can create a remarkable tale one person at a time. Or if you want to write your own story, grab a random writing prompt to start off on a brand new adventure. Pop in to write, hang out, or take a tour if you haven’t had the opportunity to check us out. See you soon!

🦝 The raccoon has left the building! With Steven,* our ceiling raccoon, relocating to new digs, we’re closing this week to clean and move furniture back into position. We have some uncertainty with the pending roof/ceiling repairs, but we do plan to open next week. Thanks for your patience!

🦝 Breaking News! Writing hours are cancelled Tuesday, 5/13 and Thursday, 5/15. Our journaling event for Wednesday, 5/14 will be held next door.

Our roof/ceiling are in need of repair and we learned yesterday that part of that issue could be from the raccoons who are furiously working on their poetry and graphic novels above our drop down ceiling. They’ve mostly kept to themselves, but we all know it’s only a matter of time before they come down for a coffee, snack, or ink pen. Writing hours are temporarily paused until our furry writers have been live trapped and rescued.

Our journaling event, Unfiltered: Journaling without Distractions, will be still be held Wednesday, 5/14 from 5-8 PM, only at Lit. on Fire Books, who graciously offered to let us borrow part of their shop!

Join us on Wednesday, April 9th from 5-8pm for Unfiltered: Journaling without Distractions! Held on the second Wednesday of the month, Unfiltered is meant for you to put your thoughts on paper. Or make lists and write poems. Or add stickers and washi tape. There’s not a wrong way to journal! Bring your favorite journal or grab a notebook from our supply bookcase and enjoy some quiet time with your thoughts.
