March 22 was one for the books.

The 7th Annual AZ Walk of Courage was everything we could have hoped for and more. So much energy, so much heart, and such an incredible reminder of what this community is all about. It was exciting, uplifting, and truly humbling to see it all come together.

Every year this walk grows, but what never changes is the people. The stories, the strength, the support. Watching survivors, families, and friends show up for each other in such a big way is something we will never take for granted.

There were so many moments throughout the day that made us stop and just take it all in. The smiles, the hugs, the conversations. It all matters more than we can put into words.

We are so grateful to everyone who walked, volunteered, supported, and helped make this day what it was. This event exists because of you, and it continues to grow because of you.

Still smiling about it and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future. 🏃🏻‍♀️

Grateful to for sharing a glimpse of race day at the AZ Walk of Courage.

We’re thankful for the coverage and for the opportunity to have this day, this community, and the people behind it seen and recognized.

It means a lot to be able to share even a small part of what this day represents, and we appreciate the time and attention given to it.

2,500 downloads 🎉

2,500 times someone pressed play and listened to the voices of the burn survivor community. Stories of strength, recovery, and the people who stand beside survivors every step of the way.

We are incredibly grateful to every survivor who has trusted us with their story, and to everyone who continues to listen, learn, and support this community through H.E.A.L.

Thank you for being part of it.

In just one week, our community will come together for the AZ Walk of Courage!

Whether you are a seasoned runner or simply looking for a fun way to spend a Sunday morning, there is something for everyone. You can participate in our:
• 10K Run
• 5K Run
• 1 Mile Fun Walk
• Virtual Option

The morning is designed to be a great event for the whole family. Along with the race, we will have local vendors, a doggy hydration station, face painting with the always popular Lovely Buttons, and even a firetruck for kids to explore.
We also know this time of year often overlaps with spring break for many families. If you happen to be traveling, you can still participate with our virtual option from wherever you are. And if you are staying in town, it is the perfect way to get outside and enjoy a meaningful morning with the community.

If you are a burn survivor who would like to attend, please reach out to us. We would be honored to have you join us and are happy to provide complimentary registration for survivors.

We are just one week away and there is still time to sign up.

What an amazing way for burn survivors, caregivers and family members to support and empower burn care development and resource needs in healing! The Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors is such a wonderful model of community collaboration and support.

Share your experiences as a burn survivor in the State of the Survivor Survey and help shape future support, resources, and advocacy.

Seven years ago, this walk started with one family, one story, and a lot of courage.

What no one could have predicted was how many people would see themselves in it. Survivors. Families. Friends. Care teams. People who understood that healing doesn’t end when the hospital stay does, and that walking alongside someone can matter just as much as the physical treatment.

Over the years, the AZ Walk of Courage has grown into a place where stories are shared, strength is celebrated, and no one has to feel alone in their journey.

Now, we’re getting ready to walk again. On March 22, 2026, we’ll gather at Rio Vista Community Park from 8–10 AM for the 7th Annual AZ Walk of Courage. We’ll walk in remembrance, in support of burn survivors and their families, and in celebration of how far this community has come.

If this story resonates with you, we invite you to be part of it. Sign up, bring someone with you, and walk with us. Every step helps carry this mission forward. In person 10k, 5k and 1 mile fun run and a virtual option are all available for this event. It's pet and family friendly and a it makes a great gift, family outing, or team building event.

The 7th anniversary medal will be announced soon. It’s a meaningful one.

Healing sometimes begins with the smallest of moments. A deep inhale. A quiet pause. The calming scent of lavender filling the air. Aromatherapy may feel simple, but it can be one of the most powerful ways to bring calm into a survivor’s journey.

For centuries, plant-based oils have been used to ease the heart and quiet the mind. Today, burn survivors use aromatherapy as a gentle tool to reduce anxiety, support better sleep, and create a sense of peace when the weight of recovery feels heavy. Scars are not only physical, they leave emotional marks too, and something as small as scent can help soften those invisible burdens.

Aromatherapy reminds us that healing does not always require big steps or complicated treatments. Sometimes it is about finding peace in the air you breathe and realizing that comfort, even in small ways, is possible again.

Every therapy we offer — yoga, acupuncture, burn scar massage, equine therapy, and more — exists because someone believed in our mission.

That is what your generosity makes possible. Donors keep doors open, lights on, and therapies accessible for survivors who are just beginning their journey of healing emotionally, psychologically, and socially. Volunteers make it possible for us to host incredible events where we can bring the community together. Our practitioners offer their services to aid in healing and understanding.

This support carries survivors through long after discharge, reminding them they are not forgotten and they do not walk alone.

To every supporter, whether you’ve given once, given monthly, or volunteered your time, thank you. You are part of every single victory, every step forward, and every story of hope. 💙

If you haven't gotten involved but you would like to donate, volunteer, join our Board, or join as a practitioner, please use the link in our bio for and visit our website.

No survivor should walk alone. That’s why Changed by Fire exists. Together, we hold space for the hard days and celebrate the victories, no matter how small.

Healing feels lighter when it’s shared... with family, with caregivers, with medical staff who continue to show up, and with other survivors who truly get it.

Community is the medicine. Hope is the outcome. 💙

When a burn survivor goes home from the hospital, the journey of healing continues long after the medical charts close. Pain, anxiety, sleepless nights, and a sense of “what now?” can feel overwhelming. That’s why we created the Survivor Portal, a safe online space where healing support is always just a click away.

Inside the portal, you’ll find programs from an incredible range of healing practitioners:
💙 Yoga and meditation to gently rebuild trust in your body
💙 Sound healing and music therapy to soothe the nervous system
💙 Mindfulness practices to bring calm into everyday life
💙 Somatic breathing and nervous system regulation tools to ease trauma responses
💙 Energy healing and hypnotherapy to support emotional balance and release
💙 Breathwork to deepen resilience and restore strength
These programs are designed with survivors and caregivers in mind. They’re not about perfection or performance—they’re about giving you tools for comfort, calm, and confidence as you move through recovery.

It’s free. It’s safe. And it’s for you. Register today through the link in our bio and step into a community of healing that understands. 💻💙
