Central Illinois Jazz Society (CIJS) CIJS has been furthering the appreciation and quality of live jazz in Central Illinois since 1978. Admission cost is $6/member, $10/non-member, Students free.

The Central Illinois Jazz Society provides monthly programs the third Sunday evening (typically) at Trailside Event Center in Peoria Hts (see Events) from 6:00- 8:30 pm. The program consists of the House Band followed by the guest group. The House Band features outstanding musicians from throughout Central Illinois led by Larry Harms from ICC. The dress is casual with guests welcome to arrive and leave as they wish. The Society has sponsored several famous jazz artists, including Louie Bellson, Clark Terry, Bobby Shew, Slide Hampton, Phil Wilson and Nicholas Payton. The Society encourages the younger generation to develop an interest in jazz. We have featured many college jazz bands and high school jazz bands as guest groups. High school and college students have further developed their jazz skills by sitting in with the CIJS House Band.
