Nominations Open for Pentwater ‘2026 Citizen of the Year’
For Immediate Distribution April 29, 2026 - The Pentwater Service Club (PSC) is now accepting nominations for the club’s 2026 Citizen of the Year, now in its 53rd year. The winner will be recognized at an October 6 community dinner and program held in their honor at the Pentwater Yacht Club.
“For more than 50 years, the PSC has recognized an area citizen for her/his outstanding community service through civic, charitable, educational, or other activities to earn our community’s most prestigious award: Pentwater Citizen of the Year,” said Bob French, incoming president who will serve as master of ceremony at the October event.
Nomination forms are available on-line at www.pentwaterserviceclub.org under Citizen of the Year, then click the nomination form for 2026 Citizen of the Year. Persons previously nominated are kept on file and reconsidered each year, so it’s not necessary to nominate them again.
The nomination form is easy to fill out and may be submitted by anyone, regardless of where they live. Submissions must be in writing and received by the PSC no later than May 26, 2026. All nominations will be considered; the candidate does not have to be a member of the PSC.
“Past winners have typically spent years in service to Pentwater-area not-for-profit organizations that have historically made Pentwater the special place it is to live and raise a family,” said Claudia Ressel-Hodan, a member of the organizing committee.

Tickets to the 2026 Citizen of the Year celebration will go on sale September 3, 2026, at Port View Wine and Spirits, Up North Market, or from any PSC member. Attendance is limited to the first 100 persons.

This past Tuesday, the Pentwater Service Club organized another highway clean up. The cleanup area covers a stretch of highway 31 between Wayne Road bridge up through the Pentwater Monroe Road exit, both North and Southbound lanes. Fifteen Club members and other volunteers helped. Over 25 garbage bags of “litter” were collected. Prior to participating in the effort, volunteers must review State required safety guidelines, watch a video and sign a form verifying their completion. Wearing yellow safety vests is also required. There are three outings during the Spring/Summer months. Two more to go! The Pentwater Service Club has been doing volunteer projects in the community since 1970. As the moto says: “Making a Great Place Even Better”.

Candidates Night
October 7, 6:00 Park Place

The public is invited to attend the Pentwater Service Club’s Meet the Candidates Night at Park Place on Monday, October 7 at 6:00. Candidates for Village Council, School Board, Township Board, and Township Offices have been invited to the event. Candidates will discuss their background and answer a variety of questions. The audience will have an opportunity to ask questions. Please plan to attend as we value an informed citizenry!
