This past Tuesday, the Pentwater Service Club organized another highway clean up. The cleanup area covers a stretch of highway 31 between Wayne Road bridge up through the Pentwater Monroe Road exit, both North and Southbound lanes. Fifteen Club members and other volunteers helped. Over 25 garbage bags of “litter” were collected. Prior to participating in the effort, volunteers must review State required safety guidelines, watch a video and sign a form verifying their completion. Wearing yellow safety vests is also required. There are three outings during the Spring/Summer months. Two more to go! The Pentwater Service Club has been doing volunteer projects in the community since 1970. As the moto says: “Making a Great Place Even Better”.

Nov. 2, 2023 -- It was a very interesting meeting today for sure, perhaps drawing a record number of club members and their guests. Our speakers were Pentwater natives Greg VanBoxel, owner of Fiesta Grande Chips; and Larry Doran, director of operations. They provided an update of the firm's extensive -- and impressive -- conversion of the former wire products site into its new headquarters. VanBoxel explained how his firm has outgrown its current site in Montague, and has ambitious future growth plans. Chip production will begin in the next couple of months. New equipment has already been delivered, and the existing equipment will soon be moved from Montague to Pentwater. The intent is for a portion of the site to be eventually used for retail and residential purposes.
