Chalupa had her recheck yesterday, and we're happy to report that things are moving in the right direction. YAY! Cue the happy dance!

Her white blood cell count has come down a bit, and her anemia has improved as well. The changes aren't dramatic yet, but they're exactly the kind of progress we've been hoping to see.

She will continue her medications and head back to the vet several times next week for additional bloodwork to make sure everything keeps trending in the right direction. We've also added some special venison tripe food to her diet to help support her as she works through the anemia.

Speaking of food, her appetite is back in full force, which has definitely helped us breathe a sigh of relief. As she's starting to feel better, her personality is beginning to shine through. She's becoming more accepting of affection, more curious about the world around her, and is slowly learning that people can be pretty great.

We are incredibly grateful for all of the support, encouragement, and donations that have helped make her care possible. A very generous supporter reached out yesterday, and moments like that remind us just how amazing this community truly is. We feel incredibly blessed to have so many people rooting for this little girl. Seriously, our hearts were so touched yesterday.

Please note: We are not accepting applications for Chalupa at this time. Right now, our focus is on getting her healthy, strong, and feeling her very best. Once she's fully healed and medically cleared, we'll be excited to help her take the next step in her journey toward finding a forever family.

Meet Snowbelle!
Snowbelle is a darling 2-year-old Chihuweenie with a heart full of love and a talent for snuggling.

This sweet girl is happiest curled up beside her favorite humans, whether it's on the couch or snoozing away in bed. If you're looking for a loyal companion, Snowbelle is your girl—she's a true Velcro dog who loves being close to her people.

Snowbelle can be a little shy when meeting men and appreciates a little time and patience to build trust. Once she feels comfortable, her affectionate personality shines through.

She also enjoys spending time outdoors, zooming around a fenced backyard and playing with other small dogs. Snowbelle would love a home where she can enjoy both cuddle time and a little fun in the sun.

If you're searching for a devoted best friend who will happily keep you company wherever you go, Snowbelle is ready to steal your heart!

Meet Lorenzo "Enzo"

Wanted: One active family for a scruffy little sidekick with zero concept of personal space.

Enzo is a 6-month-old, 14 pound terrier mix with a big heart, a playful spirit, and a talent for being wherever the fun is happening. He loves other dogs, does great with small children, and is happiest when he's hanging out with his people.

This smart, athletic boy is always ready for an adventure, a game of fetch, or a cuddle session after a busy day. He's also been known to occasionally clear a baby gate when he decides family time is too important to miss.

Because of his energy and love of running and playing, a securely fenced yard would be ideal for him.

If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you laughing, keep you company, and make sure you never go to the bathroom alone again, Enzo may be your perfect match.

Apply today and give this little athlete the forever home he's been training for.

Officially meet Chalupa.

*NOT AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THIS TIME

Chalupa is one of the newest babies we pulled from Escambia County Animal Welfare, and this little girl needs all the good thoughts she can get.

At only a year old, Chalupa has already had a difficult life. Found as a stray, it's clear she hasn't received the care every dog deserves. She weighs just 3.5 pounds and is painfully thin, as she should be closer to 6 pounds.

As if that wasn't enough, Chalupa is also battling anemia, has a grade 3 heart murmur and has dysplasia on her left rear leg. While the murmur is concerning, there is a chance it could be related to the anemia. The challenge is getting her healthy enough to determine exactly what's going on.

Things appeared to be moving in the right direction, but two days ago Chalupa stopped eating and needed an immediate visit to our veterinarian. Additional bloodwork showed her white blood cell count was elevated, indicating she is now fighting some type of infection. Even more concerning, her anemia has shown very little improvement.

She was started on additional medications and is heading back in today for more bloodwork so we can make sure we're treating the infection appropriately and helping her body fight back. We are hopeful as she has regained her appetite and seems to be in good spirits.

Please keep this tiny girl in your thoughts and prayers as we work to get her feeling better. We'll keep everyone updated as we learn more.

Foster or foster to adopt wanted!

Meet Spanxx, a 2.5-year-old Mini Doodle weighing just 16 pounds and packed full of love. We pulled her from Escambia county where she landed after being taken from her owner. She was in horrible condition.

This sweet girl is now looking for a foster or foster-to-adopt home where she can continue learning what it means to be a cherished family member.

Spanxx is incredibly affectionate and would love a person of her own to cuddle with. A cozy lap is high on her wish list! She is dog-friendly, though she occasionally prefers not to share her favorite person's lap with other dogs.

Spanxx is still working on her house manners and will need a patient family willing to help with potty training and basic routines. She is heartworm positive and will need transportation to her veterinary appointments in Pensacola, as well as her future spay surgery.

If you have room in your heart and home for this adorable little lady, we'd love to hear from you.

Meep is heading home! She still has some healing up to do and meds to continue, but she is on the mend.

We still aren't sure what caused the infection, but we are happy she is doing better.

Thank you so much for all the prayers, love, and donations towards her care!

In Loving Memory of Rose

It feels especially poetic that just one day after World Pet Memorial Day, we find ourselves honoring the life of our beloved Rose.

Rose entered the fospice program through Friends of Escambia over four years ago. She had been found in a home with her owner who had passed away; facing an uncertain future at a time when she needed comfort most.

When Rosalie and Friends was formed, Rose and her forever foster became part of the journey with us. What followed was one of those beautiful rescue stories that reminds us why fospice matters. Rose was a sassy, spirited little lady with plenty of opinions and a spark that never faded. Over the years, she formed an unbreakable bond with her forever foster, finding the love, stability, and devotion she deserved after all she had endured.

Last week, Rose began experiencing constipation issues. Her foster sensed there was something more going on and brought her in for evaluation. Our veterinary team discovered that Rose, at nearly 19 years old, was in kidney failure, diabetic, and had an enlarged liver. While the diagnosis was heartbreaking, it also gave us clarity. Our spicy old girl was tired, and her body was telling us it was time.

Surrounded by love and held close by the person who adored her most, Rose was given the peaceful goodbye every cherished pet deserves.

We take comfort in imagining her reunited with the owner she lost so many years ago. And we are deeply grateful for the privilege of being part of her story, providing care, comfort, and love during her final chapter.

Thank you to her forever foster for giving Rose not just a home, but a family. Because of you, her last four years were filled with security, companionship, and unconditional love.

Fly high, sweet Rose. Your feisty spirit, loyal heart, and unforgettable presence will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
