Hey to all our beloved BAD friends! I want to tell y’all about one of our programs we don’t talk about much.
It’s called Root and Nourish, and it does important work!
Y”all have all heard about the historic SNAP cuts and the $500 million stripped from federal food programs this year. Well…BAD’s Root and Nourish focuses on families right here in Pensacola.
We provide food, vitamins, and supplements like PediaSure, and we also provide infant and ADULT diapers and feminine hygiene supplies. The things that are truly necessary and don’t show up on a benefits card. The things that matter at 2 in the morning.
Build a Dream is not a food bank, but we deeply believe in the people who are. Stay tuned for info about our Manna food drive coming up July 18.

Meet Kaloni, owner of Clever Cubs Learning Academy. 🐝✨

Kaloni is building something beautiful for children and families in our community, a space where learning, creativity, confidence, and care come together.

As one of our Spring 2026 Build A Dream Mini Grant Winners, Kaloni represents the heart of what Build A Dream stands for: women creating opportunities not only for themselves, but for the next generation. ❤️‍🔥

Through Clever Cubs Learning Academy, she is pouring into young minds with purpose and passion, creating an environment where children can learn, grow, explore, and thrive.

And the excitement continues because enrollment is now open for Busy Bee’s Summer Camp! ☀️🐝

Y’all. Last night was small. Intimate. And absolutely unforgettable. 🌙✨

Those who came left changed. Those who spoke, spoke from the heart. Those who listened were moved in deep and wide and new ways.

We appreciated our differences and embraced our commonalities. And for a few hours, the experience of others became a little more our own.

There were poems about the beauty of nature and finding solace there. About abuse. About oneness. About our bodies, our sexuality, our truths. And there was a poem about losing every journal, every written word, to a flood. That particular grief, the drowning of a whole interior life, brought the quiet, sovereign decision to keep one’s words inside oneself from then on.

And then there was the dance with cancer. Not a battle. Not a fight. A dance, which is exactly how we are meant to move through all of it. The grief, the fear, the uncertainty, the beauty that insists on showing up anyway. That poem said what most of us can’t find words for: that life, at its most terrifying and most luminous, is a dance that doesn’t end.

These stories carved from marrow and memory settled over the room like something sacred. So rich. So real. So sad. So beautiful.

Burn Beautiful took us to deep and tender places… LGBTQ stories, the legacy of slavery, grief, identity, loss and restoration, and filled the room with wisdom, joy, and understanding that I simply cannot describe.

Words fail, but the room held everything. You had to be there. And if you weren’t, you’ll want to be next time.

Thank you to everyone who showed up, signed up, spoke up, and listened up. You made something sacred happen in that room.

We will absolutely do this again. 🙏 🔥
