Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon Pensacola "The Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon offers an opportunity for personal involvement in the leadership and improvement of our community, the nation, and the world.

We are an apolitical, non-profit, child-focused organization." Kiwanis is a group of worldwide volunteers who know that as a group we can achieve what individuals cannot do alone. We are dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. In our community, the Big Lagoon area of West Pensacola, we accomplish this through service to the community involving numerous programs and

events. Our focus is on our youth and preparing them to be healthy, productive citizens in an increasingly challenging world. Some examples of what we do are:
Take Stock in Children scholarship programTerrific Kids Program including 3600 elementary school children
"Kiwanis Karę" kits for at-risk kids
Builder's Club for middle school students
Key Club for high school students
K-Kids for elementary school children
AKtion Club for challenged youth
Reading is Fun (elementary schools)
Accelerated Reader books at 14 elementary school libraries
"Kiwanis and Kops" read to kids
Relay for Life (American Cancer Society)
Perdido Kids Park
Feeding the poor and homeless
Local Food Bank
Partner with Escambia School Foundation, PACE Center for Girls, Perdido Chamber of Commerce, Escambia Kid's House, Philanthropic Education Organization, and other area Kiwanis Clubs

We have a weekly breakfast meeting at the Interrarity Point Church. Join us for fun, fellowship and a sense of accomplishment by giving back to the community. Ocean Day at the Perdido Key Area Chamber of Commerce yesterday was a great opportunity to join other organizations in educating children about the ocean, beaches, and sea life in our area — and to also spread the word about the Kiwanis of Big Lagoon. Help spread the word about this great program with a free "Mentoring Changes Lives" specialty license plate. Big Lagoon Kiwanis has supported this program with donations and volunteer mentors for years, and we've witnessed its success.
